In a nutshell, “The Strangers” from 2008 was an exceptionally suspenseful horror movie. This little-known gem featured Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as victims of masked intruders who invade their home. It soon garnered a dedicated fanbase with its skillfully created scenes and an unconventional Hollywood ending, generating $82 million on a budget of just $9 million. However, the sequel in 2018 didn’t fare as well. More recently, we had a prequel that kicked off a trilogy, and now we have “The Strangers Chapter 2” as part of this series.
In a new project, director Renny Harlin is back with a tale unfolding on the last day of a long road journey across the country. A mechanical failure leaves our protagonists stranded, seeking shelter in an isolated Airbnb rental. As darkness envelops, three hooded intruders create a chilling nightmare for them, persisting until the first light of dawn.
The first movie in the series garnered a decent $48 million, and it’s been announced that Renny Harlin, known for directing “Die Hard 2,” “Cliffhanger,” and “The Long Kiss Goodnight,” will also be directing the third film within this trilogy. This will mark the fifth movie in the franchise.
The Strangers – Chapter 2 is in cinemas 26th September 2025
