The first trailer is now available for The Testament of Ann Lee, the new film from directors Mona Fastvold and Brady Corbet (known for The Brutalist). This unique film is a period piece and musical biopic that tells the story of Ann Lee (Amanda Seyfried), who founded the Shakers, a religious group, in 18th-century England and America.
Directed and written by Emma Fastvold, with a co-writing credit for Brooke Corbet, The Testament of Ann Lee features Thomasin McKenzie, Lewis Pullman, Stacy Martin, Christopher Abbott, and Tim Blake Nelson. The film will be released in select theaters on Christmas Day and is being distributed by Searchlight Pictures. You can watch the first teaser trailer below.
Despite a highly competitive awards season, The Testament of Ann Lee might not receive nominations in many top Oscar categories. However, it could still be recognized for its technical achievements in areas like costume design, production design, and sound. Meanwhile, Seyfried remains a potential Best Actress nominee for next year, alongside Jessie Buckley and Cynthia Erivo.
