The Top 10 Chase Cards from Pokemon TCG’s Ascended Heroes, Ranked by How Much They’ll Cost You

The Pokémon Trading Card Game has begun releasing products from its new set, Mega Evolution – Ascended Heroes. This collection introduces new ‘ex’ cards featuring Mega Evolutions that originally appeared in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Currently, only the Tech Sticker Collection is available, but more products will be released on February 20th and March 20th. The set already includes some highly sought-after cards that players will be eager to find.

I recently tried out some products from the Ascended Heroes collection and was really happy with the quality of the cards and how fun they are to play. However, getting the rare, highly sought-after cards proved difficult – I still haven’t pulled the beautiful full-art Psyduck! This means those top cards from Ascended Heroes are already selling for high prices online. Here’s a look at the most popular cards from the set and how much they’re currently going for on resale markets.

10) N’s Zoroark ex (Special Illustration Rare)

N is a beloved character in the Pokémon world, so it’s fitting that one of his trainer cards is a highly sought-after ‘Ascended Heroes’ chase card. This special, rare card shows N with his Zoroark, and its design strongly reflects the Dark-type Pokémon aesthetic.

This card is currently worth a little more than its closest competitor, the Mega Diancie ex, averaging around $164. However, its value could decrease as more cards are released and the rarity of other popular Special Illustration Rare ex cards becomes clearer. It will probably stay valuable, but might not remain a top 10 card for long.

9) Mega Feraligatr ex (Special Illustration Rare)

I wasn’t initially very impressed with Mega Feraligatr when it was introduced in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. However, I was wrong – its Special Illustration Rare card from the Ascended Heroes set has become incredibly valuable. The card features a cool image of Mega Feraligatr with its hood up.

Right now, you can find Mega Faraligatr ex selling for about $217. It’s not the most expensive card from the set, but it’s definitely still hard to find and highly sought after. Its Mortal Crunch attack is powerful, but most people probably wouldn’t risk damaging such a rare card by using it in a game.

8) Lillie’s Clefairy ex (Special Illustration Rare)

This card is incredibly cute! The Ascended Heroes set has a lot of great Trainer cards, but this Special Illustration Rare is definitely one of the most charming. It’s not surprising that it’s become one of the most valuable cards to collect from the set.

Lillie’s Clefairy ex is currently selling for about $253 on websites like Pokemon TCG Player. Although it’s not a top-tier card for competitive play, its appealing artwork and the fact that it’s a Trainer’s Card should keep it popular among collectors in the Ascended Heroes set.

7) Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex (Special Illustration Rare)

Pokémon cards featuring Team Rocket are usually a hit with fans, and cards with Giovanni and Mewtwo – especially those inspired by the original Pokémon movie – are highly sought after. This particular card focuses on Mewtwo, rightfully making him the star, and placing him prominently in front of Giovanni.

You can find this card for around $350 from the Ascended Heroes set, making it one of the more affordable chase cards. However, it’s still a significant investment. While mainly sought after by collectors because of its rarity, the Erasure Ball attack can be surprisingly effective in gameplay if you can fulfill its Power Saver requirements.

6) Pikachu ex (Special Illustration Rare, Tera)

One of the two Pikachu ex cards from the Ascended Heroes set ranks as the sixth most expensive in the expansion. This particular version shows Pikachu wearing a Stellar Tera crown. I don’t think the artwork’s proportions look quite right, which may be why it’s selling for less than the other, more sought-after Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rare from Ascended Heroes.

Currently, this special Pikachu ex card is selling for about $393 on websites like Pokemon TCG Player. There are 11 copies available, which suggests it’s not as hard to find as some other rare cards. Despite this, it remains very popular at the moment.

5) Pikachu ex (Special Illustration Rare)

Out of all the most valuable cards in the Ascended Heroes set, this one is definitely my favorite. It features a beautiful image of Pikachu looking directly at you, with a backdrop of trees lit by sunlight. It’s a really striking full-art card, and it’s also quite hard to find.

As a big collector, I’ve been watching the prices on the new full-art Pikachu ex card, and it’s currently selling for around $500! Honestly, that doesn’t really surprise me – Pikachu cards are always super popular and highly sought after in every set. He’s the face of Pokémon, after all! I’m really curious to see if the price changes much once more of the Ascended Heroes set becomes available later this month.

4) Mega Dragonite ex (Mega Hype Rare)

Okay, so Mega Dragonite’s design was a little controversial, but it still ended up as the mascot for the Ascended Heroes set! That’s why it makes sense that two of the most sought-after cards feature it. Honestly, this Mega Hyper Rare is so busy, you can barely make out Dragonite itself – its wings are practically invisible! But even with that, it’s incredibly rare and one of the most valuable cards to pull from the set.

A rare English Mega Dragonite ex card is selling for approximately $549 on Pokemon TCG Player. Because these Mega Hyper Rare cards are very difficult to find in packs, they’re expected to remain some of the most valuable cards from the set.

3) Mega Dragonite ex (Special Illustration Rare)

The Special Illustration Rare Dragonite card is a stunning addition to the Ascended Heroes set, despite its Mega Hyper Rare counterpart being harder to find. The artwork beautifully uses contrasting pinks and blues against Mega Dragonite’s yellow, making it a quickly sought-after card for collectors.

The Mega Dragonite ex card is currently selling for about $572 on sites like Pokemon TCG Player. Its price, like other cards from this set, may change as more cards are released. However, because this set is relatively hard to pull rare cards from, the price of Mega Dragonite ex probably won’t drop significantly in the near future.

2) Mega Charizard Y ex (Mega Hyper Rare)

As I mentioned with the Dragonite card, I don’t really like these yellow Mega Hyper Rare cards. The artwork just isn’t as visually appealing to me as other illustrated rares in this set, because of the limited color palette. However, they are definitely difficult to find, and that’s likely why they’re so valuable and sought after by collectors.

As of today, the Mega Charizard Y ex Mega Hyper Rare card is selling for around $651 on average, according to TCGplayer. This makes it the second most valuable card to chase in the Ascended Heroes set. Prices could change as more cards become available, but because this is a very rare card, we probably won’t see many more copies appear.

1) Mega Gengar ex (Special Illustration Rare)

This is a beautiful and vibrant Special Illustration Rare card. While it’s not my absolute favorite (that would be the Psyduck, which is currently around $100!), it really highlights Mega Gengar with its amazing colors. As you might expect, this rare and impressive card is currently the most valuable card from the Ascended Heroes set being sold online.

The English version of the Mega Gengar ex card is currently selling for around $960 on TCGplayer. This price is getting close to what some of the most sought-after cards from the Prismatic Evolutions set, like Umbreon, are worth. If you’re primarily interested in the artwork, the Korean version is available for about $450, which is still expensive but significantly cheaper than the English version at nearly $1000.
