The new show, The War Between the Land and the Sea, started with two episodes released at the same time, and will continue to release episodes in pairs.

Episodes 3 and 4 will premiere on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer. This is one week after the originally planned air date.

How many episodes will there be of The War Between the Land and the Sea?

There will be five episodes of The War Between the Land and the Sea in total.

This series is briefer than many shows within the Doctor Who universe, but it has the same number of episodes as the popular third season of Torchwood, ‘Children of Earth’.

I was so excited to see Colin McFarlane reprise his role as Austin Pierce in The War Between the Land and the Sea! It really brought back memories of Children of Earth, as that’s where we first met his character – it was fantastic to have him back, connecting the two stories in a really special way.
