It’s been several years since The Wolf Among Us 2 was announced, but we still don’t know much about it. Recently, PressOver reported that a studio in Argentina is helping to develop the game, and has been working on it for an unknown amount of time.
According to sources, development of The Wolf Among Us 2 restarted completely at the end of 2025. We expect an official announcement later this year, with the game slated for release by 2027. In addition, the original The Wolf Among Us will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S before the sequel launches. The first game was originally released in 2013 for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
Mp1st has confirmed reports that a remastered or ported version of The Wolf Among Us is in development. They’ve shared photos appearing to show the game being built, suggesting Trick Studios is recreating locations from the 2013 original, such as Ichabod Crane’s office. While the photos are somewhat unclear, they also depict a menu screen very similar to the one in the first game.
Okay, so I saw some photos that made me think Trick Studio might be borrowing stuff from The Wolf Among Us for the sequel, which is awesome! But then I remembered Telltale already said The Wolf Among Us 2 is being built in Unreal Engine 5, and that makes it pretty unlikely they’re using older assets. Still, it was fun to speculate for a minute!
More evidence that The Wolf Among Us is coming to current gaming consoles comes from the game studio’s website. Although the references to both the original game and a potential sequel have since been removed, users on Reddit found screenshots, and an archived version of the website on Archive.org still shows placeholder images for both.
The team originally responsible for The Last of Us no longer works at Telltale Games. They’ve started their own company called AdHoc Studio. Nick Herman, one of the founders, has discussed their work on The Wolf Among Us 2, explaining they spent several years developing it, but currently, no one at Telltale knows what will happen to the project.
Herman explained that they completed Season Two, which they believe is an improvement over the first season, despite having worked on that one as well. They were proud of the work, including cinematics and animation tests, but the project ultimately needed more time. Because Telltale was leading the project as a partnership, and they couldn’t remain idle, the studio shifted focus to ‘Dispatch’ while Telltale continued development on their own timeline.
He said they were eager to see how the project turned out. He wasn’t sure how much of their original script would be used, but he believed audiences would really enjoy the film if they had the chance to make it themselves. He finished by wishing them the best of luck.
Telltale Games confirmed in 2024 that The Wolf Among Us 2 is still in development. The original The Wolf Among Us is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Players with PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S can also enjoy the game thanks to backwards compatibility.
