Although streaming services have become more popular, Cartoon Network was once a major force in television. It began by showing classic cartoons from companies like MGM and Hanna-Barbera, but soon developed its own unique identity. Shows like Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, and Ed, Edd n Eddy helped make the network famous, and over the years, it produced seven truly exceptional programs.

7) The Powerpuff Girls

Lots of superhero cartoons feature classic characters like Batman, Spider-Man, and Superman, so it’s unexpected that one of the greatest is about three little girls with superpowers. The Powerpuff Girls is a really exciting and enjoyable action series on Cartoon Network, and watching Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup go on adventures is always a blast. What truly makes the show special, though, are its villains – some of the most memorable characters ever created for Cartoon Network.

6) Regular Show

I’m a huge fan of Regular Show – it’s easily one of the most unique and best shows Cartoon Network has ever created! It centers around two pretty lazy guys who work at a park, and every episode starts with a simple job that quickly spirals into something totally crazy and unexpected. I love how unpredictable the stories are, and honestly, the humor feels a bit more grown-up than most cartoons, which really sets it apart.

5) Courage the Cowardly Dog

Despite being one of Cartoon Network’s earliest original shows, Courage the Cowardly Dog remains popular due to its high quality. It’s a standout example of horror made for kids, cleverly using its cartoonish style and humor to tell surprisingly scary stories. The show famously frightened many viewers, and it succeeded brilliantly at doing so.

4) Adventure Time

Adventure Time is widely considered Cartoon Network’s most important show from the 2010s, and it deserves that recognition. As a huge animation fan, I always recommend Over the Garden Wall. What makes it stand out is how incredible it is for only being 10 episodes long! It’s about two brothers who get lost in this mysterious forest, and they meet all sorts of strange and wonderful – and sometimes scary – creatures while trying to find their way back. It’s a really special show because it blends a warm, cozy atmosphere with genuinely creepy stories, and it’s all wrapped up in fantastic animation, a great sense of humor, and a truly unforgettable soundtrack.

1) Samurai Jack

Few Cartoon Network shows reach the level of artistry found in Genndy Tartakovsky’s Samurai Jack. The show centers on the warrior Jack, who is unexpectedly sent to the future by the evil demon Aku. In this strange new world filled with robots, aliens, and other foes, Jack fights Aku’s forces while searching for a way back to his own time. While the show delivers exciting sci-fi fantasy adventures, Samurai Jack is truly special and offers much more than typical action cartoon fare.

Samurai Jack is widely considered one of the most beautiful animated shows ever made.
