There’s A Good Chance WWE Will Give Us Some Major Title Changes This Weekend

WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event is back, and after four episodes, it hasn’t quite lived up to expectations. It’s felt more like a longer version of Monday Night Raw than a special pay-per-view event. Whether it’s the frequent commercials or how WWE is structuring the shows, fan enthusiasm has clearly dropped. Simply put, the previous four episodes haven’t delivered much that truly mattered, and a lot of viewers miss seeing Jesse Ventura involved.

Things are poised for a major shake-up. We could see several world championships switch owners this weekend. Plus, this event is streaming live on Peacock without commercial breaks – a change from previous shows. All of this points to a potentially historic Main Event, possibly the most important one in decades, reminiscent of the huge WrestleMania III rematch between Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan in 1988, which drew over 30 million viewers. Let’s break down the reasons why.

We Know We’re Getting A New World Heavyweight Champion

Okay, so no matter what else happens at this event, we know the World Heavyweight Champion is going to be someone new. Seth Rollins unfortunately got injured and had to give up the title, and now it’s all down to CM Punk versus Jey Uso – the winner takes the belt! And let me tell you, the wrestling world is really split on who should win. It’s not just the usual online arguing, either. People are genuinely fired up and passionate – and honestly, a little angry – about this particular match. It’s a big deal!

Jey Uso is one of the most talked-about performers in WWE. His quick climb to prominence, including winning the Royal Rumble and briefly holding the World Heavyweight Championship earlier this year, has sparked a lot of debate among fans in 2025. Some people are eager to see him succeed again, while others believe he doesn’t deserve to be in the top position.

With the addition of CM Punk – a consistently controversial figure in wrestling – and the surprising exclusion of popular star LA Knight, this match is already sparking a lot of debate. It’s likely to be the main focus of Monday Night Raw for the next several months, and could even impact plans for WrestleMania 42. Ultimately, a championship will change hands, and the outcome is going to be significant.

There Could Be Up To 3 Additional Title Changes Too

Look, I’m not saying there aren’t other title matches happening on the card – plenty of pay-per-views and old Saturday Night’s Main Events were stacked with them. What I am saying is that there are three matches where the winner genuinely feels up in the air. These aren’t guaranteed wins like, say, Bret Hart easily defeating Papa Shango for the championship back in ’92. With these matches, I can actually see realistic scenarios where the championships could legitimately switch hands.

Out of the current storylines, I think Tiffany Stratton versus Jade Cargill is the one most likely to see a title change. Honestly, ever since Jade signed with WWE, fans – myself included – have been eager to see her really break out. It’s been a bit frustrating though, because injuries and the feeling that her in-ring work hasn’t quite progressed as quickly as we’d hoped have made things uncertain. She lost pretty quickly to Stratton at SummerSlam, but her new look and heel turn last week were a great surprise! If she’s going to finally level up and become a singles champion, this feels like the perfect time to do it.

Cody Rhodes isn’t guaranteed to keep his championship. While he’s been champion for over a year, Drew McIntyre is currently performing at the peak of his career. Many fans are hoping for a change, and a title switch could be a surprising and exciting move. There’s been talk that Cody even suggested losing the title to McIntyre back in September, but it was turned down. Now that they’re revisiting this rivalry so soon, it’s possible those plans might be back on the table.

Dominik Mysterio, the Intercontinental Champion, is incredibly popular with fans, even though he’s a villain. He’s probably going to win this match and keep his title. However, because he’s facing both Penta and Rusev, WWE could have the match end in a way where someone else pins one of them, protecting Dominik. While I don’t expect it to happen, there’s about a 25% chance of that scenario, making this title match more unpredictable than many others on weekly shows and smaller pay-per-views.

To Sum Up

Saturday Night’s Main Event hasn’t always been exciting, but this weekend promises to be different. We’re guaranteed to see at least one championship change hands, and it’s very likely we’ll see another one too. Jade Cargill is expected to defeat Tiffany Stratton, but Cody Rhodes is facing a real challenge – something we haven’t seen much of during his recent title defenses. For the first time in a while, his win isn’t certain, and that makes it really interesting.

Not every wrestling event can be a huge spectacle, and Saturday Night’s Main Event isn’t meant to compete with events like WrestleMania or the Royal Rumble. But this weekend’s show is genuinely fantastic – it’s the best card we’ve had in a while, with championship titles on the line, and I’m really looking forward to it.
