‘There’s Truth to It’: Sony ‘Considering’ Bringing Back Your Fave Franchises on PS5

Despite strong sales of the PS5 – nearing 100 million units – public opinion of the PlayStation brand is currently at its lowest point.

Many fans are disappointed with Sony’s distance from its player base and its unsuccessful attempts to create ongoing, service-based games.

There’s growing excitement among PlayStation fans about the possibility of remakes for the inFAMOUS series. Although journalist Jordan Middler hasn’t confirmed the rumors, the speculation itself has generated a lot of buzz.

Reliable source Nate the Hate is reporting that Sony is looking into bringing back some of its older game franchises that haven’t been used in a while.

This source is a very trustworthy industry insider, recently having accurately revealed details about Nintendo’s new Star Fox game. However, it’s crucial to understand that when they say Sony is “exploring and considering” something, it doesn’t guarantee it will actually happen – not yet, at least.

When asked about bringing back older games, the conversation focused on franchises like Sly Cooper, Ape Escape, and MotorStorm. However, there are many other popular titles from the company’s past – including Jak & Daxter, Killzone, Resistance, and Gravity Rush – that fans would love to see return.

As we discussed recently, it makes sense that Sony is trying to build games that offer ongoing content and engagement, and we don’t see anything inherently wrong with that idea. However, fans might be more accepting if Sony hadn’t stopped supporting the popular game series they already loved.

It seems the company running the platform might start looking for more game ideas from smaller, independent developers, similar to what happened with the recent God of War: Sons of Sparta. Since that game did well for them, they could consider more proposals like it to keep popular game series going.

We’re hoping the rumors are true, no matter how Sony decides to do it. An inFAMOUS collection would be fantastic, and there are many other older Sony games we’d really love to see brought back.
