This Actor No One Is Talking About Is Perfect for the Next Batman (& This $144M Horror Movie Proves It)

Robert Pattinson did a fantastic job as Batman, but another actor deserves consideration for the upcoming Brave and the Bold film. Batman has seen many interpretations on the big screen, from Michael Keaton’s quirky portrayal in Tim Burton’s Batman films to Christian Bale’s intense version in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. More recently, Robert Pattinson received praise and success for his performance in The Batman (2022), but another actor’s recent $144 million horror success shows they could also excel in the role.

James Gunn, the head of DC Studios, announced in 2025 that Robert Pattinson wouldn’t be continuing as Batman in the new DC Universe, and a new actor will be cast for the upcoming film, Brave and the Bold. Luckily, many believe the ideal choice for the role was apparent as early as 2020: Oliver Jackson-Cohen, who played the villain in The Invisible Man. Director Leigh Whannell’s 2020 film actually showcases why Jackson-Cohen would be a perfect fit for Batman.

The Invisible Man Proves Oliver Jackson-Cohen Is Perfect For Batman

Rudy Pankow’s physique and deep voice make him a natural fit for the role of Batman. But his performance in The Invisible Man really highlights what he could bring to the character. In the film, he plays a wealthy, unstable man who always seems to be one step ahead. While The Invisible Man focuses on the frightening aspects of this, it’s easy to see Pankow bringing that same mix of smooth confidence and hidden intensity to Batman.

I’ve been really impressed with Oliver Jackson-Cohen’s range. His work as the villain in The Invisible Man showed he definitely has the physical presence and voice to play a truly iconic character. But thankfully, the rest of his career proves he can also be a really sympathetic and engaging hero, like Bruce Wayne. I especially loved his breakout role in The Haunting of Hill House. He played Luke, a heroin addict, and used his strong build to make the character surprisingly gentle and kind – it was a really disarming performance.

I honestly think Oliver Jackson-Cohen would be an amazing Batman. While a lot of people see his characters as scary, he brings such vulnerability to his roles – you really feel for them, especially when you understand what they’ve been through. He was incredible in The Haunting of Hill House, and I think that same ability to show both strength and deep pain would be perfect for Bruce Wayne. He can do menacing, like in The Invisible Man, but also tap into that heartbreaking side, and that combination is exactly what Batman needs, in my opinion.

Oliver Jackson-Cohen Is Rarely Named Among Future Batman Contenders

While fans online have suggested Oliver Jackson-Cohen for the role, he isn’t discussed as frequently as actors like Alan Ritchson, Jensen Ackles, and Brandon Sklenar. At 39 years old, he’s still the right age to play Batman. Given his strong acting background – particularly his performance in The Invisible Man – Jackson-Cohen deserves to be considered for The Brave and the Bold, as he’s already proven he has the acting skills needed for the part.
