We really enjoyed the original Tenchu games on PlayStation, but sometimes a fresh start is necessary to create something truly special again.
Japanese game developer ACQUIRE, known for their experience, seems to be creating a new cooperative PlayStation 5 game called Yakoh Shinobi Ops. It’s most similar to the Tenchu series of games.
What’s really surprising is that the game supports four players at once, which feels like a big leap for a stealth action game focused on challenging gameplay.
The new game requires players to work together and stay hidden to avoid being spotted. Even a small mistake can be fatal, so players must carefully search for clues and navigate through the enemy’s base.
Every ninja character has special skills, like grappling hooks and smoke bombs. To succeed and work well with your team, you’ll need to learn what your character does best.
The press release continues:
Just finishing the mission isn’t enough for a ninja. They must return alive to truly succeed. Avoid death at all costs and fight to escape. Work with your team and use everything you have to survive – that’s the path of a true ninja.
The game’s not due out until 2027, but seems wildly ambitious and a pretty unique premise overall.
It will be fun to test the cooperative gameplay, as the game seems very rewarding when played correctly. However, it might become frustrating if players get impatient and recklessly rush into danger.
Let’s wait for more information to see how it balances co-operative play.
