Good news for fans of Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment’s fantasy RPG, but with a slight change of plans. The big Fall Update has been moved to 2026, coinciding with the game’s one-year anniversary. Don’t worry, though – it will still deliver everything originally promised, like New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and a brand-new weapon type, plus even more exciting additions, making it the largest update for the game so far.
Hi everyone! As you may know from our update plans, we were aiming to release something new this fall. However, we’ve decided to focus our energy on a bigger update coming in February, around the one-year anniversary of Avowed’s launch.

Since the New Game Plus feature has been delayed, my earlier advice still stands: save your game before finishing Avowed. This is especially important if you’re starting a new playthrough or nearing the end.
I’m eager to see what else is included in the upcoming Anniversary Update. While I’d love a new story expansion, that’s probably not what the developers are working on right now.
Avowed was first released in February 2025, and the game has already received several updates based on player feedback. These updates added support for the Steam Deck, a mode to help players with arachnophobia, and improvements to how enemies behave.
Obsidian Entertainment has been very busy this year! In addition to Avowed, they launched Grounded 2 into early access in July and The Outer Worlds 2 in October. Another team even added a turn-based mode to Pillars of Eternity.
Looking forward, Obsidian has a lot on its plate. Some team members will continue to update The Outer Worlds 2 and create its two planned DLC expansions, while others will continue working on Grounded 2.
Avowed is currently available on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC (through Battle.net, Steam, and Xbox on PC). It’s also included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
