Tiger Woods’ friendly bond with his ex is par for the course.
Okay, you guys, I was losing it! Tiger and Elin – yes, the Elin Nordegren – were actually there together, watching Charlie play in his golf tournament in Florida! It was November 15th, and honestly, seeing them side-by-side supporting their son? It was everything. Charlie is just incredible, and to have both his parents there cheering him on… I nearly fainted! I’ve been following Charlie’s golf journey since he was tiny, and this was a huge moment. It was so heartwarming to see!
The ex-couple, married from 2004 until 2010, chatted while watching their 16-year-old son lead his team to win the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 1A state championship.
Tiger, 49, dressed for the event in a blue striped golf shirt, navy pants, and a dark blue cap. He had a water bottle tucked into his back pocket. Elin, 45, wore a white top, black leggings, and a wide-brimmed white hat, carrying a light blue backpack.
This wasn’t the first time the couple – who are also parents to 18-year-old Sam Woods – have shown a united front for their children. Back in December, they shared a heartwarming hug while celebrating their son Charlie’s first hole-in-one at the PNC Championship, as captured in a video posted on Golf on CBS’ Instagram.
Okay, so even after everything that happened with Tiger back in 2009 – you know, the scandal – it’s just…amazing to me that he’s actually talking about being friends with his ex! And now, get this, he’s dating Vanessa Trump! I’m honestly obsessed with keeping up with his life, it’s incredible to see him trying to move forward and rebuild things. It’s just…wow.

He described his relationship with her in 2015 as wonderful, telling Time magazine they are close friends who talk frequently. He emphasized that their children are the most important thing to both of them.
Seeing Charlie take after me has honestly been the most rewarding thing for me as a fan. It’s incredible to watch him pursue the same passion, and it fills me with so much joy – even more than witnessing his successes!
Tiger told the Golf Channel in December that he was thrilled for the golfer and cherished the fun they’d shared as a family.
Now that we’ve followed Charlie’s progress on the golf course, let’s take a look at other athletes’ children who are following in their parents’ footsteps…

Many people consider him the best basketball player ever, so it’s no surprise his sons, Jeffrey and Marcus Jordan, also wanted to play the sport. After playing in high school, Jeffrey Jordan attended the University of Illinois and then the University of Central Florida, hoping to make a name for himself outside of his famous father’s legacy.
In 2005, Jeffrey told The Washington Post that while he didn’t consider himself one of the best players in his state, he was determined to prove he deserved to compete and wasn’t just relying on his reputation.
While studying at UCF, Marcus also played basketball, and he says his father was instrumental in helping him find his direction in life.
He shared advice whenever I needed it, but mostly he emphasized the importance of staying focused and working hard daily, believing that effort would eventually lead to success, he told The Gainesville Sun in 2011.

Bronny James (born LeBron James Jr. on October 6, 2004) played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon in the San Fernando Valley and then went on to play college basketball at the University of Southern California.
LeBron’s busy NBA schedule often made it difficult for him to attend all of his son Bronny’s games, but he always made a real effort to be there. For example, he once rented a private plane on a day off just to watch Bronny’s team, Sierra Canyon, play against his old high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary, in Akron, Ohio.
LeBron told reporters that watching his son play against his former college team felt incredibly surreal and special, like everything had come full circle. He called it an unbelievable experience.
In June 2024, Bronny James was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, creating a historic moment: he and his father, LeBron James, became the first father-son pair to play in the NBA simultaneously.
LeBron James’s younger son, Bryce James, began his college basketball career at the University of Arizona in 2025.

Rounding out the Sierra Canyon team of all-stars is Zaire Wade, the oldest son of former Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade.
Zaire, who joined the team in December 2019 after transferring from Florida, explained to Yahoo! Sports that they need to accept the intense focus they’re receiving. He said the team is constantly followed by cameras, and while he’s used to attention, this is unlike anything he’s experienced before – it’s taken it to a whole new level.
In April 2020, Zaire announced on Instagram that he was transferring to Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, Florida, because he wasn’t getting enough playing time.
Zaire was drafted 10th overall in the 2021 NBA G League draft by the Salt Lake City Stars. After that, he played for the Cape Town Tigers in the Basketball Africa League and most recently signed with a team in the ASEAN Basketball League in April 2024.

I’ve been following Cha’iel Johnson for a while now, and honestly, I think she might be even more incredible than her famous football star dad! She was only twelve years old when she won the girls’ 800-meter race at the 2017 AAU Junior Olympics – it was amazing to watch, and I have a feeling she’s going to go far!
She began her running career at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida and later competed for the University of Kentucky’s athletic program.

One of the NBA legend’s sons, standing 6’10” tall, played basketball at UCLA. His college career was unfortunately cut short when he needed heart surgery due to a medical condition.
He sat out the 2018-19 season after leaving his first school and then transferred to Louisiana State University (LSU). LSU famously honors its alumni, including Shaq, with a 900-pound bronze statue outside the basketball practice facility.
After finishing his studies at Louisiana State University, the basketball player began his professional career in 2022 with the NBA G League Ignite, a team designed to develop young players for the NBA.

Shaquille O’Neal’s daughter, who is 6-foot-2, decided to attend Louisiana State University (LSU) in 2020 to play basketball alongside her brother, Shareef O’Neal.
Choosing what to do after high school is a really big decision, and I’ve finally made mine,” she said. “I’m a little nervous about the future, but I’m ready for the challenge. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve committed to playing a sport at LSU with my brother, Shareef O’Neal. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to spend the next four years as a Tiger!
I was so excited when she joined the basketball team at Texas Southern University for the 2021-2022 season! It was a great move for her career, and I’ve been following her progress there ever since.

The oldest daughter of a two-time NBA All-Star played basketball with Izela Arenas, daughter of Gilbert Arenas, while they both attended Sierra Canyon school.
Oh man, talking about Coach Izzo at Michigan State just… gets me! I remember reading this interview with Randolph in the Los Angeles Times back in 2020, and he put it perfectly. He said Izzo was just… tough, a real hard-nosed coach, but in the best way. He could push the guys, really get after them, but with the women… it was totally different. He’d just melt! Randolph said the women would give him that look, like, ‘I’m really trying, Dad,’ and he’d be completely wrapped around their little fingers. He always had a soft spot for them, you could just tell. It’s just… classic Izzo, honestly.
MacKenly jokingly claimed she’d won against her father in one-on-one matchups three times, adding that he doesn’t bother with defense.

Terique, the 6’3″ son of an NFL Hall of Famer, initially joined Florida Atlantic University’s football team as a walk-on in 2019. He spent most of his childhood playing basketball before switching to football during his teenage years. He began his college football career at Contra Costa Community College and later transferred to FAU.
After his college football career, Terique signed with the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad.

A standout player from Sierra Canyon High School, he was a four-year starter and led his team to two state championships. He continued his basketball career at Vanderbilt University and, in 2022, signed a contract allowing him to play for both the Los Angeles Lakers and their G League affiliate.
In 2024, Scotty Jr. signed a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies that allows him to play for both the Grizzlies and their G League affiliate, after a short time playing for the South Bay Lakers.

Michael Jordan, the legendary Chicago Bulls player and five-time NBA champion, is also a father.
Dennis Rodman Jr., also known as DJ, was a high school athlete at Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach, California, playing both basketball and football. He initially played college basketball at Washington State before transferring to the University of Southern California in 2023.
After a game in 2017, his high school coach, Ryan Schachter, told the Orange County Register that he was a talented player who hadn’t gotten much recognition in Southern California.
After his college career, DJ joined Capital City Go-Go of the NBA G League in 2024.

While Dennis Rodman’s son followed in his footsteps by playing basketball, his daughter, Trinity Rodman, chose a different sport: soccer. After her first college season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, she turned professional in 2021, joining the Washington Spirit. In 2022, she also made the United States Women’s National Soccer Team.
In 2024, Trinity won Olympic gold as part of Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Given how incredible Tiger Woods is at golf, it’s no surprise his son is also a talented player. Charlie Woods first appeared on television playing golf with his father at the 2020 PNC Championship when he was just 11 years old.
Asked about practicing his golf swing before playing with his son, the 15-time major champion admitted he hadn’t. He explained he wasn’t focused on his own game, but on making sure his son, Charlie, had a great and enjoyable experience.
