Tim Allen is thrilled about the upcoming Toy Story 5. He was overjoyed when Disney announced the fifth film, and he’s now shared a touching message celebrating the completion of filming, showing his continued excitement for the project.
Tim Allen was thrilled to reprise his role as the beloved space ranger, so it’s no surprise he had mixed emotions when filming wrapped. He recently shared a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter) about finishing work on Toy Story 5. Here’s what he had to say:
I finished recording my lines for Toy Story 5 on Friday, and it was a really emotional experience. I’m so grateful to work with such talented people on a story I truly love, and I’ve cherished playing this character for so many years.
Tim Allen’s recent comments have made me even more eager to see Toy Story 5. I’ve always loved the Toy Story films – they consistently deliver touching stories, thrilling adventures, plenty of laughs, and genuinely heartwarming scenes that keep me completely invested.
The upcoming Toy Story 5 is expected to explore how new technology—specifically, a tablet Bonnie receives—could make toys feel obsolete. It’s a really relevant idea for today’s world, and I’m already excited about it!
Some fans initially reacted negatively to the idea of a fifth Toy Story film, feeling that the later movies didn’t live up to the original trilogy. However, Tim Allen was optimistic about the new project and agreed to reprise his role as Buzz Lightyear because he thought the story was genuinely smart and well-written.
I can’t wait for a scene in the new Disney movie that Tim Allen says playfully references Tom Hanks’ film, Cast Away. Apparently, around 100 Buzz Lightyear dolls get stranded on an island and their attempts to return are incredibly funny. It sounds like a really amusing idea, and knowing how well the storyline about Buzz’s malfunctioning settings worked, I expect this will be both funny and full of adventure.
Hearing that Tim Allen is excited to reprise his role as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 5 makes me eager to see it! Considering how popular each Toy Story film has been, I’m confident this new installment will draw big crowds to theaters to see what adventures Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the toys have as they deal with a changing, tech-driven world.
You can check out Toy Story 5 when it hits theaters on June 19, 2026, to see what Allen’s been talking about. In the meantime, you can revisit Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang by streaming the first four Toy Story movies on Disney+.
