Timothée Chalamet has not been shy in his pursuit of greatness.
Ever since publicly sharing his plans at the 2025 SAG Awards, the 29-year-old actor has approached life with a newfound confidence and openness. This has been especially noticeable during interviews for his new film, Marty Supreme—to the point where some people are starting to comment on how self-assured he seems.
Similar to the main character in the film, Timothée Chalamet confidently defends himself against suggestions that he should be more humble.
He told IndieWire in a December 19th interview that the film channels the energy of director Marty Scorsese. He emphasized it’s a truly original movie, which is rare these days, and focuses on the dedication to achieving a lifelong goal. He’s committed to promoting the film fully, through everything from merchandise to interviews and online appearances, to reach the widest possible audience.
Everything—including the orange blimp shaped like Marty, his oddly-shaped group of followers, and a special edition jacket—was, as he explained, done “In the spirit of Marty Mauser.”
Timothée Chalamet, known for his role in Dune, shared that a line from Bob Dylan – whom he portrayed in A Complete Unknown – continues to inspire him. The lyric, “He who is not busy being born is busy dying,” resonates with him deeply.

As for self-doubt? There are, simply, not enough hours in the day.
Timothée, whose girlfriend Kylie Jenner is also involved with the popular Marty Supreme, described how he approaches every acting role with a very focused, technical mindset. He doesn’t rely on a set formula, but on set, with long 12-hour days, there isn’t time to hesitate or be overly dramatic – it’s about getting the job done efficiently.
He explained that if you’re fortunate and stay focused and determined, you can just manage to get through the day.
Everyone needs time to rest, recharge, and recover, and I’m not suggesting anyone should be obsessed with work,” he said. “But given how unusual and rewarding my career has been, why wouldn’t I be completely dedicated to it? I’ve always put my heart and soul into my work.”
He believes his earlier films—including Bones and All, Call Me By Your Name, Beautiful Boy, and The King—show a clear focus, and he feels his skills as a filmmaker are continuing to develop.
He explained that he’s growing as an artist. ‘My skills have improved,’ he said, ‘so I’m now able to work on a larger scale and with more variety in my art.’
