Tina Turner and Ike Turner’s Son Ike Turner Jr. Dead at 67

A member of one of music’s most iconic families has died.

Ike Turner Jr., the son of Tina and Ike Turner, died on October 4th at a hospital in Los Angeles. His passing was confirmed by Tina Turner’s niece, Jacqueline Bullock. He was 67 years old.

According to Bullock, the sound engineer passed away from kidney failure, after previously dealing with significant heart problems.

She told Page Six on October 5th that her cousin, known as ‘Junior,’ was like a brother to her, since they shared a childhood growing up in the same well-known family home.

Bullock also pointed out that Ike Jr. was a talented musician, just like his mother and father.

Growing up as the son of Tina and Ike Turner, he showed musical talent from a young age, wanting to try every instrument. Although he initially preferred the drums, his mother, Tina Turner, and his aunt made him disassemble his drum kit after every practice. This eventually led him to focus on playing the keyboard instead.

Oh my gosh, Ike Jr. became this *amazing* sound engineer! I mean, he worked on Dad’s last album, *Risin’ with the Blues*, and it was incredible. It even *won* a Grammy in 2007 for Best Traditional Blues Album! I knew it was special when I first heard it, and the world finally recognized it too. It was just…perfect.

When I first met Ike Turner, it was a beautiful blended family. I came into the picture in 1962, and along with marrying Ike, I also embraced his sons from a previous relationship with Lorraine Taylor – Ike Jr. and Michael. We then welcomed our own son, Ronnie, that same year. And Ike also legally adopted Craig, who was a son from another relationship, making our family even bigger. It was a full house, but filled with love!

Ike Jr. experienced several difficulties throughout his life, including an arrest just two weeks before his mother passed away in May 2023. According to a police report from TopMob News, he was accused of possessing crack cocaine and attempting to hide evidence.

Ike Jr. was preceded in death by two brothers: Craig, who died by suicide in 2018, and Ronnie, who passed away in December 2022. Their father, Ike Sr., died in December 2007.
