Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley’s family will never be the same.
In my role as a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share an update from the Chrisley family: Over two years since the passing of their daughter Savannah Chrisley, her former fiancé Nic Kerdiles is now opening up publicly for the first time, joining the Chrisleys in reflecting on their shared past.
Todd, aged 56, shared on the August 20th episode of Chrisley Confessions 2.0 podcast that he’s received numerous messages on Instagram asking why he hasn’t spoken about a certain topic. He explained, “It’s been really tough for me, but I wasn’t prepared to talk about it then and I’m not quite ready now. However, to honor Nic and the deep affection we hold for him, I will discuss this once, and after today, I won’t bring it up again.”
“My heart has not healed,” he continued. “And I don’t know if it ever will heal.”
In September 2023, Nic tragically passed away due to a motorcycle incident in Nashville at the age of 29. This heartbreaking event has been the most challenging experience Todd has faced throughout his life. However, he continues to cherish the memories of the ex-NHL player, who was with Savannah from the years 2017 to 2020.
Nic Kerdiles was not only exceptional, he was also incredibly humorous and compassionate,” he said. “I dearly wished for him and Savannah to get married. I yearned for grandchildren, but that dream didn’t materialize. However, even after their separation, I still enjoyed lunch dates with Nic, and we exchanged texts countless times every day.
While serving his sentence for tax evasion and other offenses in a Florida prison, Todd was informed about Nic’s demise during a visit with their children Savannah, Grayson (aged 19), and Chloe (aged 12).
Chloe rushed up to him, visibly upset, which he recounted. “What’s wrong?” he asked, to which Savannah collapsed into his arms, tearfully saying, “He’s gone.” Puzzled, he wondered if it was Chase who had left since that was all his mind could conjure at the moment. He repeated, “Who’s gone?” and she responded with “Nic,” causing him to recall vividly, regardless of any onlookers in the waiting room, the moment when he crumbled in shock.
He added, “It was truly so surreal that I became numb, and we cried that whole visitation.”
The truth of Nic’s passing became a stark reality for Julie when she and Todd arrived home from prison, which had granted them clemency by the President in May.
She mentioned, “It felt strange to return home and find him absent.” Without a shadow of a doubt, I believe he would have collected you. Despite their separation for several years, they were still in touch.
Grieving the life that Savannah and Nic could have had proved hard for Todd.
He shared, choking back sobs, “Every single day, he’s on my mind.” He added, “I believe I’m still mourning the lost possibilities. I had always wished for them to reunite, and it seemed Savannah held the same hope. As she often expressed.
Todd expressed that while he cherished their times together, he also expressed a wish for Nic’s legacy to be honored beyond the period he spent with Savannah.
Todd expressed his feelings tearfully, stating, “It should have been Nic Kerdiles, the former NHL player, who had a successful life. He was not just Savannah Chrisley’s fiancé or ex-fiancé, but also her boyfriend. More importantly, he was an honest, decent, and honorable individual who cherished love and wanted to be cherished in return.
For over four years, it’s been an immense privilege and a profound source of gratitude to have been in God’s plan, knowing Nic Kerdiles. I believe that during this time, he felt cherished and loved. Regarding the last moments of his life, I can say with confidence that he did not depart this world feeling unloved by the Chrisleys.
