A puzzling image posted on the official Tokyo Game Show X account is getting people to guess about a possible new game reveal in September. The post hints at an announcement coming on May 12th, showing only a green loading bar.
There’s been a lot of excitement about a possible announcement for Kingdom Hearts 4. This seems likely considering game director Tetsuya Nomura mentioned the team was aiming for the franchise’s 25th anniversary in 2027. If that timeline holds, we might see a reveal around Tokyo Game Show 2026, making an announcement on May 12th a good fit. However, we haven’t had much news since 2022, so it’s also possible these rumors aren’t accurate.
Right now, this is all just guesswork until Square Enix makes an official statement, and we’re trying not to get too excited after waiting so long. We’d be overjoyed to learn the next Kingdom Hearts game is coming soon, but it could be something completely different. Luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out what’s next.
As for Tokyo Game Show 2026, it’s set for September 17th to 21st.
