The X-Men are a famously large team because members frequently join and leave, meaning almost every mutant has been part of the group at some point. The team is always changing and adjusting to new challenges. They’ve even divided into multiple squads to handle different threats or resolve internal disagreements. Currently, there are two main X-Men teams: Cyclops’ team based in Alaska and Rogue’s Uncanny X-Men in Louisiana. Both teams have their strengths and weaknesses, and we’re going to take a closer look at one of them and what makes it so formidable against villains.
Cyclops’s current team is unique because it’s made up of X-Men who all have a villainous past. While some, like Beast and Xorn, weren’t directly evil, they’re connected to darker forces – Xorn through his brother’s actions, and Beast as a heroic version of a truly villainous original. These X-Men have faced their inner demons and now use their power for good, but that lingering darkness makes them incredibly formidable. We’re going to rank the team based on their potential for raw power – how much damage they could inflict if they weren’t holding back. Let’s take a look at each of these X-Men.
10) Magneto

Magneto, once capable of incredible feats like moving continents, is now weakened by a mysterious illness called Resurrection-Linked Degenerative Sickness. This disease has taken away his powers and left him unable to walk, forcing him to rely on a hover chair – a situation similar to his long-time rival, Professor X. He’s gone from being one of the universe’s most powerful mutants to a frail, failing man. Even if he could cause destruction, his current condition makes it impossible, despite having plenty of reasons to do so throughout the recent X-Men series (2024).
9) Glob

Glob Herman is a friendly, somewhat clumsy character, though he’s surprisingly susceptible to joining extremist groups. His mutation transformed his skin and muscles into a pink, see-through, wax-like substance. While it makes him a little tougher than most people, he’s not invulnerable. Aside from his unusual appearance—you can literally see his insides—he’s generally a regular guy. His most dangerous ability is setting himself on fire and charging at opponents, which can be effective, but isn’t powerful enough to defeat truly formidable supervillains.
8) Psylocke

Psylocke is the first X-Man on this list who truly excels in hand-to-hand combat, and she’s exceptionally skilled. She’s arguably the best fighter here, but the limitations of her powers prevent her from ranking higher. She’s a strong telepath who typically uses a psychic blade to access people’s minds. While her blade can cut through almost anything and she’s defeated many opponents with it, her abilities are limited to individual or small-group confrontations. This restricts the total damage she can inflict at any given time. Her dangerous skill set makes her eighth-place ranking particularly concerning.
7) Beast

Everyone knows Beast is brilliant, but people often forget just how strong he is! His mutation gives him incredible power and agility – seriously, the guy can swing from ceilings using just his feet. He’s not quite as powerful as Spider-Man, but I’ve seen him break through brick walls and even toss cars around, though it clearly takes a lot out of him. Estimates put his maximum lift at around ten tons, and honestly, knowing how smart and scientific Hank McCoy is, I trust those numbers. He’d much rather invent something to solve a problem, but don’t think for a second he can’t deliver a knockout punch with enough force to obliterate a boulder if he needs to!
6) Temper

Idie Okonkwo, also known as Temper, is a powerful mutant who can create both intense heat and freezing cold, generating one extreme from the other. She’s unique on this list because she can easily take on groups of opponents—she’s demonstrated the ability to simultaneously freeze and burn an entire room full of enemies. However, we haven’t yet seen the full extent of her abilities, so she ranks sixth. While she could potentially be much more powerful, her current demonstrated power—freezing half a room and burning the other—limits her ranking.
5) Cyclops

Scott is known more for his strategic thinking than his raw power, but his incredible abilities shouldn’t be underestimated. He’s celebrated for being a skilled tactician, and while he usually keeps his optic blasts contained with a visor, releasing short bursts, his full power is terrifying. Without it, his eyes can unleash devastating destruction – a single look can obliterate almost anything in its path. He’s capable of destroying even structures built to withstand nuclear blasts and could dismantle a mountain in minutes. For everyone’s safety, he really needs to keep his visor on.
4) Kid Omega

Quentin Quire is an incredibly powerful telepath, considered an Omega-level mutant – putting him in the same league as Professor X and Emma Frost. He can influence the thoughts of a massive number of people simultaneously. When it comes to sheer destructive power, Kid Omega doesn’t disappoint. He can create psychic objects, like Psylocke’s energy blade, but on a far grander scale, even comparable to the constructs made by Green Lantern. Adding to his abilities, he can also use his psychic and telekinetic powers to break down matter at a molecular level, making him a truly formidable force.
3) Xorn

Xorn is committed to healing and avoids violence at all costs, but he’s surprisingly one of the X-Men’s most powerful members. He has a black hole in place of a brain, and it’s incredibly dangerous – if not contained, it could obliterate everything nearby. Even with a special helmet to control his abilities, Xorn’s power rivals that of his twin brother, who once pretended to be Magneto and tragically killed Jean Grey. Removing the helmet would unleash a destructive miniature black hole capable of destroying the world if it weren’t stopped. Thankfully, Xorn’s peaceful nature keeps this immense power in check.
2) Magik

It’s easy to assume Magik is just a powerful close-combat fighter, given her Soulsword and teleportation disks. While she excels at fighting up close, she’s capable of much more. As the Sorcerer Supreme of Limbo, she’s a master of magic comparable to Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch – both incredibly powerful individuals who could reshape reality. In fact, when Magik fights within Limbo, her magical abilities might even surpass theirs. Though her power is somewhat restricted on Earth, encountering her in Limbo would be a terrifying experience, and a quick defeat would be the best possible outcome.
1) Juggernaut

The saying about the Juggernaut holds true: once he gets moving, there’s almost no stopping him. Cain Marko is empowered by the magical being Cyttorak, giving him incredible strength and the ability to withstand almost any attack. He can fight powerful heroes like Thor and the Hulk and just keep coming. But his greatest danger comes when he starts to run, because he builds up unstoppable momentum. He constantly gains speed and power, becoming like an incredibly powerful force that can break through anything in his path. Once he’s rolling, the Juggernaut is a truly terrifying opponent.
