Spider-Man and Superman‘s live-action meeting comes to life in crossover art.
Spider-Man is Marvel’s most recognizable hero, but Superman is often considered the definitive superhero, not just for DC Comics, but for the entire comic book medium. Both characters have been portrayed by multiple actors in live-action films – Superman has had several, and Spider-Man has seen three main actors take on the role. Currently, David Corenswet plays Superman, and Tom Holland is the current Spider-Man.
The Spider-Man movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been incredibly successful, both critically and financially. James Gunn’s Superman film also performed very well at the box office, and a sequel, Man of Tomorrow, is already planned for 2027. A recent comic book team-up between Spider-Man and Superman has sparked fan interest in seeing the two heroes cross over in a live-action movie.
An Instagram artist named @odimi_ created images showing how Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and David Corenswet’s Superman might look together in a live-action scene.
Fan art depicts a crossover between Marvel and DC, showing the actors who play Spider-Man and Superman shaking hands as their classic comic book selves. The artwork also features them side-by-side in their most recent superhero outfits from the Marvel and DC universes. Seeing the two heroes together feels incredibly natural and fitting.
Spider-Man & Superman Crossing Over Would Be Perfect
Bringing together Holland’s Spider-Man and Corenswet’s Superman makes a lot of sense for several reasons. One possibility is it would allow Marvel to finally incorporate Peter Parker’s job at the Daily Bugle, a key part of the comics. It would also be fascinating to see how Peter’s and Clark Kent’s styles of reporting differ.
Both Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and David Corenswet’s Superman are upbeat, funny heroes, but they’ve also both faced difficult and painful experiences. This shared history – like the loss of a loved one or discovering a shocking family secret – could create a strong connection between them. Plus, their costumes look fantastic together.
Could Marvel And DC Ever Cross Over In Live-Action?
As of today, there aren’t any plans for a crossover between the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the DC Universe (DCU). It would likely be several years before such a thing could happen, since James Gunn’s DC Universe is just getting started, with only one film, Superman, released so far. Interestingly, a live-action Marvel/DC team-up nearly occurred when Gunn attempted to include Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool in season two of Peacemaker.
This indicates the studios are seriously considering a crossover between DC and Marvel, assuming they can resolve any legal obstacles. James Gunn previously admitted they’ve definitely talked about it. If such a crossover were to happen, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and David Corenswet’s Superman would be ideal choices, as both characters are central to their universes and share similar traits.
