I’m so excited! Prime Video just revealed the full cast for their Tomb Raider series, and alongside Sophie Turner, who I can’t wait to see take on the role, there are some fantastic new additions. It’s been over six years since Sophie finished her incredible run on
“Tomb Raider has so many beloved characters,” said showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge. “I’m incredibly excited to have included both fan favorites and some new, fun characters. This cast is even better than I imagined!”
Who is joining the Tomb Raider cast?
Prime Video’s upcoming Tomb Raider series has added several well-known actors to its cast, including Jason Isaacs (known for Harry Potter), Bill Paterson (House of the Dragon), Celia Imrie (Nanny McPhee), Jack Bannon (Pennyworth), John Heffernan (A Gentleman in Moscow), Paterson Joseph (Wonka), Sasha Luss (Anna), Juliette Motamed (We Are Lady Parts), and August Wittgenstein (Das Boot). They join previously announced cast members Sigourney Weaver, an Academy Award nominee, and Martin Bobb-Semple (Pandora).
As a long-time fan, I’m so excited about the new Tomb Raider project! I’ve always loved how daring the stories are and how memorable the characters are, and it sounds like the new cast members are going to take that to a whole new level. Hearing that Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs are joining the team is incredible – they’re such talented actors and will really add something special to this world. I, along with the rest of the global audience, can’t wait to see what Prime Video delivers with this next chapter!
Listed below are the cast’s character descriptions:
- Bobb-Semple’s Zip is Lara Croft’s long-standing tech support and friend.
- Isaacs’ Atlas DeMornay is Lara’s uncle.
- Paterson’s Winston is the long-standing Croft family butler.
- Bannon’s Gerry is Lara’s personal pilot and snack collector.
Heffernan’s David is an exhausted government official who finds himself tangled up in Lara’s unusual world. - Imrie’s Francine is the Head of Advancement at the British Museum, focused solely on raising funds and glasses of champagne.
- Joseph’s Thomas Warner is a senior government official brought in to clean up an almighty mess.
- Luss’ Sasha is a fierce, deeply competitive new adversary of Lara’s.
- Motamed’s Georgia is a devoted, by-the-books curator at the British Museum, dedicated to the ‘proper’ preservation of history.
- Weaver’s Evelyn Wallis is a mysterious, high-flying woman who is keen to exploit Lara’s talents.
- Wittgenstein’s Lukas is an illegal raider who shares history with Lara in more ways than one.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the creative force behind the show – she wrote it, developed it, and serves as its executive producer. She’s been involved with the project for more than three years. Chad Hodge co-showruns, and Jonathan Van Tulleken directs, with additional executive producers including Crystal Dynamics, Jenny Robins, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson, Michael Scheel, and Matt McInnis. Jan R. Martin is a producer. The show is a production of Amazon MGM Studios and Legendary Television.
Details about the story are still secret, but it’s been described as a large-scale adventure taking place around the world. This is the newest movie based on the popular Tomb Raider video game series, following previous films starring Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander. Phoebe Waller-Bridge joined the project through her deal with Amazon MGM Studios, working as both a writer and executive producer.
