Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Costume DLC Is Free
Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog are creating a new version of the original Tomb Raider game from 1996, called Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. Amazon Games will publish the game later this year. This is the first major Tomb Raider title since 2007’s Tomb Raider: Anniversary.
According to Amazon Games, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis offers stunning graphics thanks to Unreal Engine 5, updated gameplay, and fresh surprises, all while staying true to the original Tomb Raider’s iconic feel. It’s designed to be enjoyed by both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Although hints of a sequel appeared in the initial, uncorrected version of Shadow of the Tomb Raider from 2018, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis wasn’t formally announced until The Game Awards in 2025. The reveal of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was thrilling, but it wasn’t the only new game announced at the event.
Later this year, after the release of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a new Tomb Raider comic will continue the story from Tomb Raider: Underworld (2003). This isn’t a reboot; instead, Tomb Raider: Catalyst is a direct sequel, exploring a lesser-known but exciting part of the franchise.
Tomb Raider: Underworld was the third game in the Tomb Raider Legend storyline, which started in 2001 with Tomb Raider: Legend. In this installment, Lara Croft faced a desperate race against time and her enemy, Amanda Evert. The game also introduced Lara’s evil twin, created by Evert and the villain Jacqueline Natla.
I was really hooked by the ending of Tomb Raider: Underworld with Lara beating Evert and Natla, but the story didn’t really end there! They released two extra bits of content – “Beneath the Ashes” and “Lara’s Shadow” – that kept going with Natla trying to use Lara’s doppelgänger to finish her off. It was wild seeing Lara face off against a dark version of herself, and she ultimately managed to connect with her. What was even cooler was that the doppelgänger actually survived, leaving the door open for her to come back in a future game, like they planned with Tomb Raider: Catalyst.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is slated for release some time later this year.
