Okay, so it’s been thirteen years since the original Tomodachi Life came out, but I’m super excited because Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is almost here! I’ve been waiting a long time for this!
Putting Miis on an island and letting them live their lives is similar to The Sims, but with a distinctly Nintendo feel.
Loved the demo? Here’s the latest on when Tomodachi Life 2 is coming out!
When is the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream release date?
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will release on 16 April 2026.
Fans were happily surprised when the game was revealed during the Nintendo Direct in March 2025.
The announcement of Tomodachi Life’s return on X (formerly Twitter) actually got more likes than Nintendo of Japan’s announcement of the new Nintendo Switch 2! Fans were clearly thrilled about it.

Can you play Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Nintendo Switch 1?
Yes! Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch 1.
Interestingly, similar to some games released during this transition, this game is launching exclusively for the original Switch and won’t be updated for the new Switch 2 console.
As with all Switch games, you’ll be able to play this on the new Switch 2 because the system supports older games.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is currently available for pre-orders.
Players can grab themselves a copy of the game directly from the Nintendo eShop.
While you’re visiting, feel free to download the Living the Dream demo and begin creating your Mii characters today!
