I’ve been following the news about Toonami, and it looks like things are going to shift quite a bit. Adult Swim is planning a big shake-up to the programming block, especially heading into 2026. Several of the popular shows currently airing are wrapping up their seasons this fall, and they’re getting ready to launch some new series. Recently, Toonami announced on their Facebook page that we can expect even more changes to the schedule in the very near future, and it sounds like they’re really kicking off 2026 with a lot of new content.
Toonami announced its plans for January 3rd, 2026, and it’s good news for fans! The block will now air for an extra half hour, running from midnight to 4:00 AM Eastern Time. Along with this extended schedule, some shows are being rotated, meaning popular series like Naruto will be leaving, while others will be returning.
Toonami Reveals New January 2026 Schedule
On January 3, 2026, Toonami will air programming until 4 AM Eastern Time. It’s currently unknown if this extended schedule is permanent, but here’s the lineup for that day:
- 12:00AM – Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 – The Conflict
- 12:30AM – Blue Exorcist -Beyond the Snow Saga-
- 1:00AM – Mashle: Magic and Muscles – The Divine Visionary Candidate Exam Arc
- 1:30AM – One Piece
- 2:00AM – DAN DA DAN
- 2:30AM – Dragon Ball Daima
- 3:00AM – Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead
- 3:30AM – Rick and Morty: The Anime
Toonami’s schedule has been evolving recently, mirroring changes happening with Adult Swim. There’s been a lot of adjustment in the number and length of shows offered on weekends, but the recent schedule extension is a positive start to the year. While an extra half hour may not seem significant, it strengthens Toonami’s presence within the Adult Swim lineup.
Toonami’s Still a Cartoon Network Classic

Toonami is still a major part of Adult Swim. It’s been on the air much longer than its original run on Cartoon Network, and this current version has proven to be even more popular. In recent years, Toonami has premiered several brand-new anime series and remains a favorite among anime fans, even as more people watch shows through streaming services.
I always thought of Toonami as a carefully chosen collection of anime, and it really had a unique vibe that you don’t see much anymore. These days, anime fans are spread out across so many different streaming services and shows, it feels like we really need a central place to talk about things and discover new anime. That’s why, even if it doesn’t always seem obvious, I think Toonami is actually in a really strong position as we look ahead to 2026.
