Top 10 Best Selling PS5 Games Revealed

It’s been five years since the PlayStation 5 launched, and to mark the occasion, we’re sharing the top 10 best-selling games on the console. This generation of consoles has been unusual, with companies like Sony releasing games previously exclusive to PlayStation on other platforms. The PS5 also had a rocky start due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused production and shipping issues. Throughout the past five years, there have been numerous game cancellations, delays, and shifts in development plans, contributing to a somewhat uneven lineup of titles for the console.

Naughty Dog cancelled The Last of Us Online because maintaining a live-service game long-term would have meant moving away from their focus on single-player experiences. Similarly, an online God of War game was cancelled earlier this year, and reports indicate it would have taken place in Greece. Concord had a particularly short lifespan, launching and then being removed from sale within days, despite being intended as a key title for Sony’s live-service strategy. Despite these cancellations, the PS5 has still seen a number of excellent games, both exclusive titles and those available on other platforms.

Top 10 Best Selling PS5 Games Include a Lot of Call of Duty and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Circana recently published a list of the top ten best-selling PlayStation 5 games to celebrate the console’s fifth anniversary. They also noted that the PS5 is the second most popular PlayStation console ever, following the PS2. The rankings are based on total revenue from game sales, excluding add-ons and in-game purchases. As many expected, a Call of Duty title is number one. However, it’s interesting to see that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 reached the top spot despite being available for a shorter time than the other popular games – a testament to its incredible success.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 landed in second place, though it sparked some debate among PlayStation players. While the game’s mechanics were excellent, many thought the story wasn’t as strong as the original, likely because of a challenging development process where content was cut or changed to meet the release date and budget. Despite this, the game was a major commercial success.

It’s surprising to see Grand Theft Auto V missing from this list, considering it continues to sell very well. This is likely because it’s often discounted, and GTA Online was available for free to PlayStation Plus members for a while. However, the rest of the games on the list are still remarkably popular, although there aren’t many unexpected titles.
