Top 3 New Netflix Movie Masterpieces the 2026 Oscars Overlooked – Biggest Snubs

Netflix has several films that might be nominated for Oscars this March, but there are also some excellent movies available on the service that weren’t nominated but are still highly recommended.

As the dust settles on the 2026 Oscar nominations, it’s clear Netflix had a strong showing. Their films, especially Frankenstein with an impressive nine nominations, Train Dreams with four, and KPop Demon Hunters earning two, really stood out. While these nominations feel earned, it’s a bit of a shame to see a few other deserving Netflix titles overlooked. I’m a little surprised these three films didn’t get the Oscar love they deserved, but thankfully, you can still stream them now and decide for yourself!

A House Of Dynamite

Despite being directed by Academy Award winner Kathryn Bigelow (known for films like The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty), the 2026 film A House of Dynamite wasn’t nominated for an Oscar. The movie, which stars Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Clarke, Greta Lee, and Idris Elba, was generally well-received by critics and earned a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

A House of Dynamite is a fast-paced political thriller that starts with a shocking event: a missile attack on the United States from an unidentified source. The President and top government and military officials immediately begin investigating who launched the attack and how to respond.

Left-Handed Girl

Okay, so I recently stumbled upon this movie called Left-Handed Girl on Netflix, and wow, it really surprised me! It’s one of those hidden gems that critics are loving – seriously, it has a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. What really stood out was how well the actors performed, combined with some beautiful visuals. But beyond that, it’s just a really compassionate and well-written story, and you can tell the director knew exactly what they were doing. I highly recommend checking it out!

Directed by Shih-Ching Tsou and co-written by Sean Baker—the four-time Oscar winner behind last year’s Best Picture, AnoraLeft-Handed Girl tells the story of a mother in Taipei raising two daughters. The film follows the family as they struggle to make ends meet while the mother starts a new business, facing disapproval from her father and other difficulties along the way.

Wake Up Dead Man

Many felt the biggest surprise from the 2026 Oscars was the lack of recognition for Rian Johnson’s newest Knives Out movie, Wake Up Dead Man. Featuring Daniel Craig as the beloved detective Benoit Blanc, the film is being hailed as the strongest installment in the Knives Out series.

Featuring a strong cast including Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, and Kerry Washington, Wake Up Dead Man centers on a conflicted priest, played by O’Connor, who is haunted by his past. He becomes the prime suspect when the leader of an isolated church is murdered.

The new film, Wake Up Dead Man, has been a hit with both critics and audiences, earning a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 93% audience score. It quickly gained traction, reaching 20 million views in its opening weekend. While writer Johnson has twice been nominated for an Academy Award for his Knives Out films, he’s not expected to be a contender at the 2026 Oscars. Despite this, Wake Up Dead Man is being hailed as a brilliant murder mystery and is currently available to stream on Netflix.
