Okay, so you’re looking for something spooky to watch before Halloween? Good news – Netflix is really delivering this week. They’ve got a great selection, from genuinely creepy thrillers to darkly funny comedies, and some brand new originals you absolutely shouldn’t miss. I’ve been scrolling through and there’s a lot to choose from, so you’re pretty much set for a scary movie marathon!

Netflix is offering a fantastic selection of movies and shows this October, including popular new horror releases and highly anticipated premieres – perfect for a weekend binge!

Looking for something to watch this Halloween? Here are five shows Ebaster recommends streaming on Netflix from October 27th to 31st, 2025 – whether you’re craving thrills or something comforting.

Six Feet Under

The popular drama Six Feet Under, which first aired on HBO, will no longer be available on Netflix after November 1st. The Emmy Award-winning show stars Michael C. Hall (famous for Dexter) alongside Richard Jenkins, Lauren Ambrose, and Ben Foster. This psychological series features 63 episodes over six seasons and centers on a family in Los Angeles who run a funeral home.

This highly praised show explores themes of spirits, death, and the big questions about life and what happens after. Many consider it one of the greatest TV series ever made, and it’s known for having a particularly satisfying conclusion. If you don’t have HBO Max, be sure to watch Six Feet Under while you still can.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

If you’re looking for a gripping zombie horror series, check out The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on Netflix. It’s a fantastic and fresh take on the genre, and you don’t need to be familiar with the original The Walking Dead show to enjoy it – it’s perfect for both new and existing fans.

I dove into this series, which premiered in 2023, and I’m already anticipating its fourth season – slated for 2026! As RogerEbert.com put it, if you were exhausted by the length of “The Walking Dead” but still miss Daryl, this show might just pull you back in. And if you loved the intense, scary world of “The Last of Us”, you need to give this one a watch. It delivers a comparable level of thrills and genuine frights.

Santa Clarita Diet

Looking for a slightly spooky show to get you in the Halloween spirit without being truly terrifying? Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet might be perfect! Starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, it’s a funny and original series about a married couple—one of whom happens to be a vampire with a craving for people.

Released in 2017, Santa Clarita Diet is a darkly comedic series with three seasons and 30 episodes, each about half an hour long. Critics loved it, giving it an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences even more so – 94%! The final season was a huge hit with fans, achieving a perfect 100% score. For those who enjoy unique and funny shows, Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix is a standout.

The Witcher

Okay, so The Witcher is back on Netflix this Thursday, October 30th, and things are definitely different this time around. We’re saying goodbye to Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia and hello to Liam Hemsworth taking over the role. It’s a big change after three seasons with Cavill, but the show is clearly still a priority for Netflix – they’ve already greenlit a fifth season! For those unfamiliar, The Witcher is based on the incredibly popular video game series, and I’m really curious to see how Hemsworth tackles the character. I’ll be tuning in to see if this new direction works.

Despite some ups and downs with critics, the second season of The Witcher received a very high 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The show is full of detailed storytelling, blending exciting action with a dark fantasy world complete with monsters and magic – making it a great choice for spooky season! Paste Magazine described it as “incredibly fun and easy to get lost in.” It’s sure to be a major topic of conversation among Netflix viewers this week.

Stranger Things

If you enjoy spooky shows, especially those by Mike Flanagan like The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, Stranger Things is a perfect choice for Halloween viewing on Netflix. It’s amazing to think that this hugely popular series first came out in 2016 and has become such a streaming sensation.

I’m so excited! The first part of the final season of Stranger Things is coming out on November 26th! They’re releasing a few more episodes on Christmas Day, and then the very last episode on New Year’s Eve. Whether you’ve been following the show since season one or you’re planning a binge-watch to get ready, Stranger Things is the perfect show to dive into during Halloween week!

With a 92% rating from critics and a 90% audience score, Stranger Things is a critically acclaimed and beloved show, having already won 12 Emmy Awards. It’s also ranked as #124 on IMDb’s list of the best TV shows. The series launched the careers of rising stars like Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, and Joe Keery. Considering all of this, and with the final season arriving soon, now is the perfect time to binge-watch Stranger Things on Netflix.
