Tracee Ellis Rossis mourning the tragic loss of a dear friend.
Not long after it was reported that Malcolm-Jamal Warner, former star of ‘The Cosby Show’, tragically passed away due to an accidental drowning in Costa Rica at 54 years old, his ‘Black-ish’ co-star paid a heartfelt tribute to him.
In a July 21st Instagram post, Ross expressed his affection for Malcolm, saying “I adore you,” accompanied by photos of them. Initially, he knew Malcolm as Theo to the public, but later they became his first on-screen spouse. His heart is deeply saddened.
She went on to say, ‘You truly embodied the ideal actor and friend: you were affectionate, soft-spoken, attentive, considerate, insightful, amusing, refined. You brought a spark of light to our world. My heartfelt sympathies go out to your family during this difficult time; I’m deeply saddened by this incomprehensible loss.’
Throughout his teen years, Warner gained fame playing Theo Huxtable on “The Cosby Show.” Following the series’ conclusion, he consistently left an impact on television, appearing in shows like “Malcolm & Eddie,” “Reed Between the Lines,” and “The Resident.” Additionally, he frequently appeared on “Community,” where he acted alongside Yvette Nicole Brown, with whom he portrayed a couple. After Warner’s passing, Brown shared that his loss had deeply affected her.
She expressed her feelings by using the words of a beloved friend in a post accompanying an Instagram video featuring the actor inspiring his audience to bring smiles to others. The video offered a small peek into the kind of love this individual would freely give. Having him as a friend, she considered, was a divine gift.
Brown stated, “He was truly unique. I’ve always cared for you, @malcolmjamalwar. My feelings have never changed and they never will. Thank you for being genuine.
Before he passed away, Warner was swimming in the Playa Grande de Cocles region of Puerto Viejo de Limón on July 20. This was confirmed by Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Agency to TopMob News in a translated statement.
According to a statement released on July 21st, it seems that the victim may have entered the ocean and was likely carried away by a strong current. Bystanders managed to rescue him, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the location. Medical assistance was provided by the Costa Rican Red Cross upon his arrival on shore.
Costa Rican National Police later confirmed to ABC News that Warner’s cause of death was asphyxia.
