The upcoming title from Moon Studios, creators of Ori and the Blind Forest, is now accessible through Early Access on PC. However, it has also been confirmed that it will be released on PlayStation 5 once it’s fully developed.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly waiting for my favorite Austrian studio to release their games on PlayStation. Surprisingly, they haven’t done so yet, and up until now, all their masterpieces like Ori have only graced the screens of Nintendo Switch users. However, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we might see Ori and more on PS5 or PS4 in the near future!
Earlier today, the outspoken CEO Thomas Mahler sparked conversations on Discord by suggesting that their upcoming game might bypass Xbox release, citing current market conditions as the reason.

He wrote:
As a gamer, I’m excited about our upcoming game, but I need to share some news regarding its release platforms. Due to the present market situation, we’re considering launching it on PS5 and perhaps even the rumored Switch 2 for now. However, we’ll have an interesting chat with Microsoft to explore what would be best for Xbox.
Following the widespread popularity of his remarks, Mahler subsequently explained on X (or Twitter) that while he anticipates the game to release globally in the future, at present, the PS5 seems to be the most logical choice due to its current market statistics.
It’s clear that as of now, the PlayStation 5 has surpassed sales of 77.7 million units. In comparison, it’s anticipated that Xbox’s sales are less than half of this figure. The upcoming Switch 2 is off to a strong start and is expected to close the gap with its rivals at a swift pace.
Additionally, there’s been a fair amount of discussion about Xbox’s capacity to sell software separately from Game Pass. Although we don’t have concrete figures on this matter, it’s quite usual to observe games performing better on the PS5 because of its larger user base and less focus on subscription services compared to it.
It’s possible that tension exists between Microsoft and Moon Studios following reports of a rift, with claims suggesting their separation was due to accusations of toxic work environment leveled towards Mahler and his team.
However, based on the CEO’s remarks, it appears that he views PlayStation 5 as a more promising investment due to its larger projected market reach.
Regarding this topic, No Rest for the Wicked has been receiving outstanding feedback on PC platforms due to its breathtaking graphics and challenging Diablo-style isometric gameplay.
Here’s how the official blurb pitches it:
Sharpen your battle techniques using a system designed to demand precision and strategy. Engage in intense, dynamic battles against fearsome creatures, adversaries, and formidable bosses. Experience the heft and swiftness of each weapon through unique move sets. Embellish weapons with runes, craft exotic armor, and construct personalized character profiles tailored to your gaming style. Brace yourself for a thrilling combat journey where every opponent could feel like a legendary duel.
