The popular CBS drama Tracker, starring Justin Hartley, will return for a third season in 2026, though the premiere date will be different than usual. The show, based on Jeffrey Deaver’s novel The Never Game, is currently the most-watched scripted program on any major network.
The third season of Tracker began with a two-part premiere designed to continue the show’s success. Jensen Ackles returned as Russell Shaw, Colter’s brother, and will continue to be a part of the story when the season resumes after its break in the new year. However, viewers should note that the show will be moving to a new timeslot.
When Tracker returns on March 1st, it will air at a new time – 9 PM ET on Sundays. Previously, it aired at 8 PM ET, but that slot now belongs to the new Yellowstone spinoff, Y: Marshals. Additionally, season 2 of Watson will also be moving, and will air Sundays at 10 PM ET.
The latest figures show the drama series is averaging just under 14 million viewers across various platforms within a week. This makes it more popular than its main competitor, Tracker, which has 1.5 million more viewers than the second season of ABC’s High Potential. When looking at viewership over a longer period of 35 days, both shows ranked first and second.
This news follows some recent cast changes on Tracker. Both Abby McEnany (Velma) and Eric Graise (Bobby) left the show before season 3 started. They joined Robin Weigert, who played Teddi and left after season 1. The show explained that Velma is now focused on rebuilding her relationship with Teddi, while Bobby left to pursue a promising new job.
Despite the surprising conclusion to season 2 of Tracker, the show continues to attract a dedicated audience. Elwood Reid, the executive producer and showrunner, remains committed to delivering the story fans love about Colter. This focus will likely continue, even as the series prepares to make way for a new spinoff connected to the Yellowstone universe.
