Undead Unluck Shares New Look at the Anime’s Comeback Ahead of Christmas Premiere

The anime series Undead Unluck is getting a brand new special episode! While the manga finished in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump earlier this year, the story continues with the anime. Fans who enjoyed the first season last year have been eager for more, and now it’s been revealed that a special episode will be released in Japan this year.

Fans of the anime Undead Unluck are eager for a second season, and while that’s still to be determined, a new one-hour special is on its way! Along with a recently revealed key visual, it’s been announced that the special will premiere in Japan on December 25th, making for a festive holiday treat. You can find the visual below.

Undead Unluck Sets Christmas Release Date for New Special

A special episode of the anime Undead Unluck will premiere in Japan on December 25th. It’s currently unknown when or if it will be available outside of Japan. Fans in the United States are hoping it will stream on Hulu, where the first season is available, but this depends on licensing agreements. This special is also being produced by a different animation studio than the first season, although the director is the same.

Sunghoo Park, known for directing Ninja Kamui and the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen, will direct a new special produced by his company, E&H Production – the same team behind Eiichiro Oda’s Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation. The special will also feature key staff from the first season of Undead Unluck, including Yamato Haishima writing the script, Hideyuki Morioka and Shun’ichi Ishimoto handling character design, and Kenichiro Suehiro composing the music. David Production, the studio that animated the original TV series, is providing consultation.

What’s New for Undead Unluck?

Details about the story for the Undead Unluck Winter Arc special are currently limited. However, we do know some new actors will be joining the voice cast: Kensho Ono will play Tella, an associate of Billy, and Takehito Koyasu will voice Balance, a new UMA created specifically for this special by the series creator, Yoshifumi Tozuka. Tozuka is also responsible for writing the special’s original story, adding another layer of excitement.

Look, I love Undead Unluck, and I know a lot of us are eager for more! A full second season might take a while, though. David Production is super busy right now with things like the third season of Fire Force and the new JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure arc, Steel Ball Run. So, if you want to see more Undead Unluck content, the best thing we can do is show our support for any special releases they put out outside of Japan. Let’s help make it happen!
