Universal Horror Unleashed In Las Vegas Offers Brave Fans Year-Round Nightmares

Halloween Horror Nights fans now have a place to enjoy scares all year long with Universal Horror Unleashed! Located inside AREA15 in Las Vegas, this new attraction combines popular elements from past Horror Nights events with original shows and themed food and drinks, creating a fully immersive and spooky experience.

Last month, ScreenRant and other media visited Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas. They were immediately met by the frightening duo, Jack the Clown and Chance, who gave them a tour filled with both threats and playful encouragement. The pair then performed a show that guests attending the attraction can enjoy.

Check out the haunted houses below, along with details on the terrifying immersive zones, live shows, and dining options available. Show Director Nate Stevenson says the event is the result of a three-and-a-half year effort, and that dedication to quality is clear in every carefully designed attraction.

Universal Monsters Is A Classic Experience That’s Not To Be Missed

Though it might not be the scariest haunted house, Universal Monsters is a standout part of the Horror Unleashed event. It feels like stepping into your own horror movie with all the references to classic films and live scenes happening around you – a perfect tribute to Universal’s long history of making scary movies.

As a fan, it’s amazing to think about Universal’s history with horror – it really started everything with those classic monsters, bringing horror to a huge audience. They weren’t just popular at the time, they basically created the blueprint for horror movies for generations to come, and they kept building on that success!

Visitors can join Van Helsing on a thrilling hunt for classic monsters like Dracula, The Mummy, Frankenstein’s Monster, and his Bride, all figures well-known in popular culture.

The Exorcist: Believer Will Make Your Face Your Demons

Inspired by the recent Blumhouse film, The Exorcist: Believer, this experience follows the same storyline as the 2023 movie. Guests will witness Angela and Katherine’s terrifying possessions and the attempts to exorcise them, and will encounter frightening demons. Through a combination of special effects and skilled actors, the experience recreates key scenes from the film, putting each guest right in the middle of a truly immersive and scary nightmare.

What sets this haunted house – and all of Horror Unleashed – apart is its entry system. It lets in only small groups of people at a time, which means the scares are more focused and personal. This creates a more intense and frightening experience, guaranteeing bigger reactions and more thrills.

Del Wynegar, an assistant director at Universal, shared some details about the unique and engaging experiences guests can expect at Universal Horror Unleashed.

My main goal is to honor what we’ve already created while also making it fresh and new. We’re thinking about how the characters change and develop within the world of Universal Horror Unleashed. When players return, we want them to see that things have moved forward – that the characters have been affected by their experiences and aren’t just repeating the same patterns. We’re aiming for a deeper, more involved experience with each character.

We’re exploring ways to enhance the space and create engaging experiences. The goal is to make finding what you’re looking for easy and rewarding, bringing things to life with the cutting-edge technology and innovation Universal is famous for. We’re committed to maintaining that strong tradition of innovation and building on Universal’s legacy.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Is A Nightmare Come Alive

Based on the iconic 1974 horror film, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre haunted house is arguably the scariest of the four. Guests will come face-to-face with Leatherface, his terrifying family, and those who fell victim to them, all within a decaying farmhouse set in the Texas countryside.

Visitors will be able to experience the famous chainsaws up close, walk through the eerie graveyard, and feel like they’re part of the movie as they watch iconic scenes unfold around them.

Scarecrow: The Reaping Is As Scary As It Is Original

Unlike the other haunted houses, which are based on real locations, Scarecrow: The Reaping tells a completely new story set in the 1930s. Guests will wander through a rundown farmhouse during the Dust Bowl era, but this one is overrun by scarecrows and other vengeful creatures who blame the farmers for their failed harvests.

Scarecrow: The Reaping is a hugely popular attraction at Halloween Horror Nights in both Orlando and Hollywood, and it’s perfect for a permanent spot in Las Vegas. Its original story and incredibly immersive scares will truly overwhelm your senses.

Scares Lurk Around Every Corner On The Floor Of Universal Horror Unleashed

I’ve been to a lot of Halloween events at theme parks, but Universal Horror Unleashed really stands out to me. What I love is how completely they transform the area – it’s not just about walking through a haunted house, the scary atmosphere follows you everywhere, even after you’ve left it. It’s truly immersive!

I recently spoke with Stevenson about their ambitious new project, and they made it clear: they weren’t just aiming to add another haunted house. They wanted to create a year-round horror experience – something Universal has never done before, and frankly, something I haven’t seen anywhere else. But it wasn’t just about novelty. They really wanted the most immersive, interactive horror experience Universal has ever offered. Knowing how popular Halloween Horror Nights already are, that’s a huge claim! The key, they explained, is the scare zones – designed to keep the fear going constantly, with no safe spaces.

Stevenson explained that creating a truly immersive experience is difficult at Universal Parks because the illusion can be broken by something as simple as someone walking by and seeing a visible rollercoaster with riders enjoying themselves.

Right away, we knew Universal Horror Unleashed Las Vegas had to be a completely original creation. It couldn’t be built on top of anything existing – it needed to be designed and constructed from the ground up, both inside and out. It had to stand alone, and that was our first major decision.

AREA15 creates a truly terrifying experience by immediately pulling guests into a world of horror the moment they enter. While scary characters and activities are located in different zones, visitors move seamlessly from one frightening theme to the next, ensuring a consistently chilling experience.

Throughout the year, the park features special spooky events tied to different seasons. For example, December brings Krampus & Kin, and February offers Bloody Valentine activities. During our visit, we experienced Feaster Grievings, which included a fun rotten egg hunt and a creepy maze with a menacing Easter bunny. Although that event has ended, new seasonal scares are always on the way, making repeat visits worthwhile for any fan of Universal Horror.
