As expected, Bungie will be showcasing its new extraction shooter, Marathon – launching on March 5th – during today’s State of Play broadcast. You can find details on how and where to watch the livestream here.
A studio spokesperson confirmed on the game’s official Discord – as noticed by Gematsu on social media – that the first-person shooter will be featured in tomorrow’s State of Play.
The development team based in Washington will host a livestream after the broadcast, and it will include appearances by special guests.
The studio has confirmed there won’t be an unexpected playtest following the event, which is a good thing to clear up before people get their hopes up.
As a big Sony fan, I’ve been following the reaction to Marathon closely – they really went all-in with the Bungie acquisition for $3 billion, so a lot is depending on this game! It had a rough start, and people were pretty critical at first, but honestly, things seem to be turning around. There’s actually a buzz building, and I’m starting to get genuinely excited to see what they’ve created!
It’s common for multiplayer game segments to get some negative reactions during livestreams, so be prepared: Marathon will definitely come up at some point during the broadcast.
