It’s surprising it took Sony so long to announce a follow-up to Until Dawn, the game that really launched Supermassive Games as a leading horror developer. But now it’s official: Until Dawn 2 is in development! The game, being created by Firesprite Games (known for Horizon Call of the Mountain), is scheduled to release on PS5 in 2027.
The new game isn’t heavily connected to the first Until Dawn. It’s a completely separate story with a new group of characters – people who pretend to investigate the supernatural. They make a living faking ghostly encounters, but their latest job takes them to a deserted tropical island where things quickly become terrifyingly real.
A dark secret and a spirit seeking revenge are at the heart of the mystery, and someone is brutally attacking people with a machete. Like before, your choices will determine if everyone survives or meets a terrible end. You’ll face all sorts of decisions – from stirring up conflict for views to even rescuing a baby wild pig.
So far, Dr. Hill is the only character we know will be returning, but it’s unclear what he’ll be up to. Firesprite promises to reveal more about the story, how the game plays, and the rest of the characters as we get closer to the game’s release, so keep an eye out for updates!
