Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece started appearing in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1997, and has released over 1100 chapters since then. Though the story is now in its final arc, it will still take years to conclude. For nearly three decades, One Piece has become incredibly popular worldwide, earning its place as the best-selling manga series ever. Its popularity has also led to several spin-off novels, written by different authors who explore Oda’s richly created world. One Piece: Heroines is one of these spin-offs, set within the same universe as the original manga and featuring familiar characters, but with a fresh perspective and tone.
Jun Esaka’s novel, with illustrations by Sayaka Suwa, is being adapted into an anime that will premiere on July 5th, 2026. The official One Piece X account announced the release date and shared a beautiful image featuring Nami surrounded by a crowd, with Robin standing beside her. While a trailer hasn’t been released yet, fans can likely expect one during the Spring 2026 anime season.
What Is One Piece: Heroines About?

Each book in this spin-off series contains four main chapters, each spotlighting a different popular female character from One Piece. There’s also an additional chapter focusing on Nami and Robin. The main characters featured are Nami, Robin, Vivi, Perona, Hancock, Tashigi, Reiju, and Uta. While the story covers a lot of ground, the anime adaptation will be selective, and won’t follow the book exactly. It will also include some new scenes not found in the original novel.
I’m so excited for the upcoming anime adaptation! They’re tackling Nami’s story from the novel, and it’s a really sweet one. It revolves around her going shoe shopping – she finds these gorgeous shoes, but they’re a bit painful! The shop assistant is super helpful, and Nami ends up really encouraging them to pursue their own design dreams instead of just working for someone else. Interestingly, Robin isn’t actually in Nami’s story in the book, but the anime creators are adding her in! They’re not adapting the chapter focused on Robin, so they’re cleverly weaving her into Nami’s story instead. It’s a great way to include everyone!
One Piece’s Original Anime Is All Set For Its Return in April

Fans are excited about the upcoming spin-off, but the main One Piece story will continue before it airs. The anime took a three-month break after finishing the Egghead Incident Arc last December. It’s scheduled to return on April 5th, 2026, starting the long-awaited Elbaph Arc from the manga. Instead of new episodes every week, the anime will now release episodes seasonally, with each season containing up to 26 episodes.
After a huge fight on Egghead Island, the Straw Hat Pirates journey to Elbaph, the legendary home of the Giants, where they’ll encounter new obstacles. The Elbaph arc is currently unfolding in the manga, revealing important details about the past and uncovering more mysteries surrounding the figure of Nika, along with introducing several new characters.
