It appears that the character Scarlet Witch is edging towards a more antagonistic role in the storyline, to the shock of many fans of the series “WandaVision”. In the movie “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” produced by Marvel Studios in 2022, Scarlet Witch was transformed into a villain due to her reading of the Darkhold, also known as the Book of the Damned. However, in the comic books, Scarlet Witch is currently the vessel for the Darkhold, but she has managed to suppress its malevolent influence. Yet, when Scarlet Witch and Vision find themselves confronting an adversary who has caused them significant pain and loss throughout their history, the allure of the Darkhold becomes irresistible.
In the exclusive sneak peek from ComicBook, Steve Orlando, Jacopo Camagni, Ruth Redmond, and VC’s Travis Lanham present The Vision & The Scarlet Witch #4. In this issue, Vision and Scarlet Witch find themselves in Graverealm, a realm ruled by the Grim Reaper. He has set up “Death’s Doors” worldwide, offering people the chance to reunite with their deceased loved ones. However, anyone crossing these thresholds meets an untimely end. Last time, Vision was reunited with his late son Vin, who set them on a series of tasks that brought them closer together. Now, having completed those tasks, the Grim Reaper is back to challenge them once more.
Scarlet Witch Uses Her Living Darkhold Powers Against Grim Reaper
The Grim Reaper starts provoking both the Vision and Scarlet Witch, aiming to instigate frustration and distraction within them. It appears that this strategy is effective on Vision, who had been brought back from the verge of death by Scarlet Witch’s magic infused with chaos. This revival led to a new white form for Vision, one which seems to have heightened emotional sensitivity. With his renewed anger, Vision retaliates against the Grim Reaper, but Scarlet Witch restrains him, preventing him from engaging further.
As a movie critic, I’d put it this way: In “The Vision & The Scarlet Witch” #4, Scarlet Witch refuses to let Death claim victory. Instead, she taps into the Darkhold, aiming to torment Grim Reaper with reminders of lives unlived and lost. We witness Grim Reaper’s past-as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, an ionic superstar, and a firefighter-all potential paths he could have taken but now haunt him as nightmares. The chilling climax reveals the tortured Grim Reaper staring terrified at his spectral doubles. Simultaneously, Scarlet Witch’s transformation deepens with ominous horns sprouting from her head, hinting at the Darkhold’s sinister influence on her soul.
Beyond the threshold of death lies an enthralling confrontation in the realm of the deceased! In The Vision & The Scarlet Witch #4, the Grim Reaper sets his ultimate ambush for Vision and Wanda. Can they escape this perilous situation, given that they face the true patron behind the Reaper? Remember, no one escapes Death’s grasp…
