As a big fan of Warrior Nun, I was so excited to hear some good news! It’s not the full revival on Netflix we were all hoping for, but it’s something! The show really took off when it came out in 2020 – I loved getting lost in that world of nuns battling supernatural forces. It was so frustrating when Netflix canceled it after just two seasons, but the fans immediately started a #SaveWarriorNun campaign. We were thrilled when they announced it would continue as a series of movies, though we haven’t heard much about that lately. Now, it sounds like the creator is working on another awesome story for us soon, and I can’t wait!
According to Deadline, Simon Barry, the creator of Warrior Nun, is developing a new series called Time of Death. The show will likely appeal to fans of his previous work. Time of Death follows a British detective who, after a ten-year pursuit of a cunning serial killer, moves to Vancouver only to discover the killer has followed him. This sets off an intense, obsessive search. The series is a project resulting from a partnership between Omnifilm and Barry’s production company, Reality Distortion Field. While it doesn’t replace Warrior Nun, it sounds like an excellent next step for Barry.
Time of Death Sounds Like a Great Follow-Up to Warrior Nun

Okay, so if you loved Warrior Nun, you might want to check out Time of Death. It doesn’t have quite the same supernatural action – no warrior nuns or demons here – but it’s coming from the same creator, and that’s a good sign. I really enjoyed the mysteries in Warrior Nun, and this new show seems to be leaning into that same vibe. Knowing how this creator loves to throw curveballs, I’m already anticipating some great twists! Plus, Warrior Nun really nailed its characters, and from what I’ve heard, Time of Death is going to focus even more on the relationship between its protagonist and their rival. Sounds promising!
Simon Barry’s New Show Should Avoid Warrior Nun’s Fate for One Key Reason

Another reason to look forward to Barry’s new show is that it has a better chance of lasting longer than Warrior Nun. While the story could be told in just one season, it doesn’t necessarily need to be. Without a lot of fantasy elements and special effects, it should be more affordable to produce, which increases the chances of renewal – something we’re seeing more of with current TV series. Whatever happens, it’s great to have Barry back with a complex story, especially since it’s been a while since we last saw Ava (Alba Baptista) and Beatrice (Kristina Tonteri-Young).
