Recently, an extraordinary drone exhibition was held in Shenzhen, China, which was organized by Sz Media Group and was based on the theme of World of Warcraft to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary. (via @sz_mediagroup)
In an extraordinary showcase, drones took on the likenesses of characters hailing from the game, such as Arthas, Xal’atath, Chen Stormstout, and Alexstrasza. They then assembled a dragon based on the Mists of Pandaria expansion and a 20th Anniversary logo for World of Warcraft.
Simultaneously, during the same period, the operator of the Chinese World of Warcraft servers, NetEase, held a live stream to commemorate the game’s 20th anniversary too.
The event began, featuring developers from Blizzard Entertainment expressing gratitude towards the Chinese community for their continued support. Subsequently, they delved into details about upcoming content modifications specifically designed for the Chinese edition of the game.
In the World of Warcraft Classic: Cataclysm expansion, Chinese players can quickly advance their characters to prepare them ahead of time for the release of World of Warcraft Classic: Mists of Pandaria.
In the game Wrath of the Lich King Classic, Chinese players are finding it hard to keep pace because they were temporarily delayed due to a temporary halt in the game’s server operations following Activision-Blizzard’s severance and subsequent renegotiation of their partnership with NetEase.
In my observation, while the global community eagerly awaits the release of Mists of Pandaria Classic on July 21, 2025, China will enjoy access to this exciting expansion a bit later, between the winter season of 2025 and the early days of spring in 2026.
Additionally, Chinese players stand a chance to gain mounts and engage in community activities that they previously missed out on due to the shutdown period.
Furthermore, NetEase assures that World of Warcraft: Classic will eventually receive additional content similar to expansions, serving as an alternative for Season of Discovery (which won’t return because of time and technological limitations). This new content is expected to roll out globally, including China, in the future.
In November 2025, NetEase has revealed plans to launch a unique server for China, titled the Titan Reforged Server. This server brings together all the content from the original World of Warcraft, The Burning Legion, and Wrath of the Lich King into one unified gameplay mode.
In this scenario, the action is referred to as a “speedy level-up spree.” Here, players will experience faster character development, allowing them to tackle old raids that have been adjusted to Level 80.
In this server, both the traditional equipment, tier sets, and reputation levels will be adjusted to match the player’s level, while all class talents, spells, and abilities will utilize their Level 80 versions to offer players a fair opportunity to conquer these enhanced raids.
After making the announcement, Blizzard revealed that Chinese gamers can participate in the eagerly awaited, future Legion Remix event, scheduled for global launch this year, though the exact release date remains undisclosed.
The available information suggests that this upcoming event bears a resemblance to the Mists of Pandaria Remix, enabling players to re-experience the Legion expansion, but this time with extraordinary enhanced abilities and equipment.
Instead, Blizzard Entertainment has disclosed that the Legion Remix expansion will introduce a Diablo-inspired, challenging tier called “Shattered Timeline”. The details are scant, but what we do know is that this mode will transport players to an alternate version of the Legion timeline where things have taken a turn for the worse.
Given the original narrative of Legion, which featured a colossal attack by the Burning Legion, the demise of numerous prominent characters, and Sargeras impaling Azeroth with a blade as large as a mountain, it’s hard to fathom how situations could deteriorate further from that point.
But we’ll have to wait and see to find out.

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Chinese players, just like everyone else worldwide, will simultaneously receive the third major update for World of Warcraft: The War Within on August 14, 2025. Additionally, a sneak peek at a new 12-month subscription package offering unique mounts and pets is on its way. This bundle will be available to all regions, but China will receive an extended version with additional perks.
The live broadcast ended as Blizzard Entertainment shared touching tales about various Chinese gamers and creators, along with announcing their intention to contribute both the earnings from charity pets sales and an extra one million yuan to the AiEr Foundation, aiding children with hearing difficulties.
The World of Warcraft is starting to heat up in the lead-up to World of Warcraft: Midnight
We are just under a month from the unveiling of World of Warcraft’s next expansion, World of Warcraft: Midnight, at Gamescom on August 19, 2025. During this event, we’ll get a glimpse of the opening cinematic for this upcoming PC game, as well as details about gameplay, live demonstrations of player housing, and plenty more exciting reveals!
I’m eagerly anticipating uncovering the thrilling journeys that lie ahead in the next phase of World of Warcraft’s Worldsoul Saga, having enjoyed World of Warcraft: The War Within immensely.
It’s quite exciting that Chinese gamers can expect to obtain their characters before the release of Mists of Pandaria Classic, given that this expansion appears to be highly favored in China since it draws heavily from Chinese legends and traditions.
I can’t help but feel envious as Chinese players are going to have an exclusive chance to play on the Titan Reforged Server. The prospect of facing off against the Lich King, who’s been rebalanced for level 80 characters, sounds incredibly exciting. Sadly, I didn’t get a chance to battle him when Wrath of the Lich King was initially released in 2008, so I never got to appreciate how challenging he was during that time.
It would be great if the Titan Reforged Servers expand globally in the future, enabling us to re-experience the original raids from World of Warcraft, with the classic bosses rebalanced to present a challenge even for Level 80 players once more.
