DC Studios recently unveiled a redesigned look and new voice for Darkseid, one of the most formidable villains in the Superman universe. While Darkseid hasn’t been featured prominently in live-action DC films and shows, he had a significant role in the 2021 HBO Max release, Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Warner Bros. has added a new show called Superman Experience: Defenders Unite to its Studio Tour in Hollywood. During the show, DC Comics gave fans their first look at the voice and appearance of the villain Darkseid.

Though the actor voicing Darkseid hasn’t been announced, his voice is powerfully deep and intimidating as he vows to destroy Metropolis and harm those Superman cares about. Warner Bros. has created a visual design for the character that closely matches his comic book look, including his signature purple armor and gloves, although the animation style is fairly basic.

Throughout the video, Darkseid appears repeatedly, telling viewers that the “chaos shard was wasted in [their] hands” and then threatening an upcoming attack.
Milly Alcock will play Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl, in the new DC Studios movie. When Superman announces her arrival, she playfully responds with a casual “Dude, obviously,” and jokes about not letting him be the only one having fun.
DC had previously only shown us pictures of the new Darkseid. Now, with the release of his voice and animation, they’re establishing him as a major new villain in the DC Universe before he appears in a movie.
Currently, no actor has been chosen to play Darkseid in the new DC Universe, and he isn’t scheduled to appear in any of the planned DC Studios films.
When Will Darkseid Come to the DCU?

Although Darkseid isn’t currently planned to appear in live-action DC films, James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, confirmed he’ll be featured in the upcoming animated series Mister Miracle. This show may offer fans a preview of Darkseid’s design before a possible future appearance in a DC Universe movie.
Darkseid could appear in the new DC Universe whenever the filmmakers choose, but he’s most likely being saved for a major villain role in a future Justice League movie – though one hasn’t been officially announced yet. Currently, only Superman, Supergirl, and Green Lantern have confirmed solo movies in the works, and a Wonder Woman film is reportedly being developed as well.
This Darkseid design blends familiar DC elements with updated visuals, including a fresh take on the House of El symbol, aiming for a faithful adaptation of his comic book origins. While he’ll undoubtedly be brought to life with top-tier CGI and effects, it’s still unclear exactly how closely his final appearance will match what fans expect.
