Watch Dogs Movie Actor Says Script “Tears Apart This World We Live in Today”

Tom Blyth, who will star in the upcoming Watch Dogs movie, recently shared some thoughts on the film with Screen Rant. He praised the script, describing it as a powerful critique of modern society – particularly its focus on issues like surveillance and our dependence on technology. However, he couldn’t share many specifics about the movie just yet.

Blyth explained that while they aren’t a big gamer, they were familiar with the source material. They praised the script for updating the story to reflect modern life, particularly the risks and complexities of our interconnected online world—a theme very present in the games. They apologized for being a bit unclear, stating they couldn’t say much more at the time.

Details about the movie have been scarce. The last update was in 2024, when filming took place over the summer months, wrapping up in September. The film features a screenplay by Christie LeBlanc and stars including Blyth, Sophie Wilde, Markella Kavenagh, and Victoria Bata. Mathieu Turi directed the project.

The most recent game in the Watch Dogs series is Watch Dogs: Legion, which came out in 2020. Available on PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, Legion did something new for the franchise: instead of playing as a single main character, players could recruit almost any person they encountered in the game world to join their team.

I’m really excited about Watch Dogs: Legion! It takes place in London in 2029, and you play as part of DedSec, the hacker group fighting against the all-seeing ctOS system. Basically, the story follows DedSec as they take on a bunch of different bad guys – everything from rival hackers called Zero Day, to a powerful private military company, a big crime organization, a shady biotech firm, and even a secret intelligence agency. It’s a full-on war against anyone abusing the surveillance tech!

The first Watch Dogs game came out in 2014 for PC, PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It told the story of Aiden Pearce as he fought against the powerful and corrupt people controlling Chicago. Watch Dogs 2 followed in 2016, shifting the action to the San Francisco Bay Area and introducing a new main character, Marcus Holloway.

Last month, a rumor surfaced suggesting Ubisoft could be revisiting Watch Dogs: Legion with a Director’s Cut version.
