I was at the ‘Wednesday’ FYC event last night, and Catherine Zeta-Jones – who is absolutely fantastic as Morticia Addams – shared who she’d love to see join the cast. She jokingly wondered why Danny DeVito hasn’t been approached yet! Apparently, she and her husband, Michael Douglas, are longtime friends with DeVito, and she thinks he’d be a perfect fit for the show. Honestly, I can totally see that working – DeVito would be brilliant!
Catherine Zeta-Jones shared that she and her husband, Michael Douglas, recently celebrated their birthdays with Danny DeVito on September 25th. She jokingly wondered why DeVito wasn’t in the show ‘Wednesday,’ and playfully suggested he would be perfect as the character Cousin It. She thought it would be ‘so cool’ to see him in that role.
She admitted Michael DeVito might be upset with her suggestion, jokingly imagining his reaction: “He’s going to kill me! He’ll say, ‘Oh great, they’re going to cast me and cover my face in hair. Thanks for the idea, Catherine.'” Zeta-Jones made these comments after the show previously generated buzz with the secret cameo appearance of Lady Gaga in Season 2.
Catherine Zeta-Jones described Lady Gaga’s involvement as a closely guarded secret, explaining she hadn’t even told her husband, Michael, or her children. She playfully described herself as feeling like a teenage fan when she met Gaga, calling her an incredibly talented artist and saying she’d love to work with her again.
Netflix plans to start filming the third season next year. Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Morticia, hasn’t seen the scripts yet, but she’s hoping the new episodes will delve into Morticia’s relationship with her own mother and how her connection with Wednesday changes and grows.
