It’s been nearly a year since the last episodes of Yellowstone finished airing, and fans are eager to see Luke Grimes and Kelly Reilly reprise their roles in the planned spinoffs. Unfortunately, it seems Wes Bentley won’t be involved in future projects, given his character’s storyline. He’s already landed a new acting role, moving from Taylor Sheridan’s Western to a project with another major producer, Ryan Murphy.
Several Yellowstone spinoffs are planned, focusing on characters like Kayce and Beth. However, Jamie won’t be getting his own show – spoiler alert for those who haven’t finished the series – because his character died. While flashbacks are always a possibility, it’s unlikely we’ll see Wes Bentley in a Taylor Sheridan production again soon. The good news is Bentley will be appearing in another TV series, so fans will still get to see him on screen.
Since the end of Yellowstone, Wes Bentley hadn’t appeared in any new projects until now. According to Variety, he’ll next be starring in the FX series The Shards.
This upcoming project will turn Bret Easton Ellis’s novel into a movie or TV show. The story is set in 1980s Los Angeles and centers around a group of teenagers as a serial killer begins targeting young people. Based on the book’s description, it promises to be a suspenseful and complex thriller.
Bret, a seventeen-year-old senior at the prestigious Buckley school, finds his life disrupted by the arrival of Robert Mallory, a new student with a hidden past. Robert quickly charms Bret and his friends, but keeps a secret from them. At the same time, Bret becomes increasingly fixated on a local serial killer known as the Trawler, who seems to be targeting him and his circle with disturbing threats and increasingly violent acts. Bret feels personally taunted by the killer’s escalating crimes.
The show’s cast includes Kaia Gerber, Igby Rigney as Bret, Homer Gere as Robert, Hayes Warner as Debbie, and Graham Campbell as Thom. Sources say Bentley will play Terry, Debbie’s father (Debbie will be played by Hayes Warner).
This promises to be a thrilling story, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what Bentley brings to the role. I’ve been a fan of his work, especially his portrayal of Jamie in Yellowstone (available on Peacock), and he’s collaborated with Ryan Murphy many times before, so I have high expectations.
Before becoming famous for Yellowstone, Wes Bentley was a regular on American Horror Story for three seasons, all available on Hulu. He appeared in three episodes of Freak Show (Season 4), then starred in all twelve episodes of Hotel (Season 5) and all ten episodes of Roanoke (Season 6). This means he’s worked with creator Ryan Murphy quite a bit.

Disney+ + Hulu Bundle: From $12.99 A Month
As a total movie and TV buff, I’m always looking for good streaming deals, and this one caught my eye. For just $12.99 a month, you get both Disney+ and Hulu. Seriously, that unlocks so much content! I’m talking brand new shows like Andor and Only Murders in the Building, plus a ton of older favorites, even stuff from FX like American Horror Story. If you’re looking for a bundle, it’s definitely worth checking out.
For The Shards, Murphy will be an executive producer, with Max Winkler directing and also executive producing. He had a more hands-on role with AHS, where he not only wrote and directed episodes but also created the show, oversaw its day-to-day production as showrunner, and served as an executive producer.
I’m really excited to watch The Shards. As a big fan of Yellowstone, I’m especially interested to see what Wes Bentley does in this new role. Plus, the fact that it’s based on a book by the author of American Psycho and Less Than Zero makes it even more appealing.
Unfortunately, there’s no confirmed release date for this new FX show yet. We’ll share updates as soon as we have them. In the meantime, you can revisit episodes of Yellowstone or check out Wes Bentley’s previous work on Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story.
