Netflix has released its latest Monster offering, titled Monster: The Ed Gein Story.
The latest season of Ryan Murphy’s crime series tells the chilling true story of Ed Gein, a famous murderer from the 1950s. He became known for creating clothing and objects from human skin after authorities discovered his disturbing habits.
Ed Gein’s crimes heavily influenced many iconic horror films and stories, like *The Silence of the Lambs*, *The Texas Chain Saw Massacre*, and *Psycho*, and continue to be the basis for disturbing and shocking television programs.
Beyond the disturbing nature of the series, many viewers will likely be shocked by the portrayal of Adeline Watkins (Suzanna Son) and her romantic involvement with Gein, even after learning about his horrific acts.
The first episode shows Gein presenting Watkins with the body of one of his victims – a nude, deceased woman who had been strung up and gutted. Though Watkins appears shocked at first, the episode later reveals she continues to see him romantically.
Curious about the character Adeline Watkins from Monster season 3 and what happened to her? Here’s everything you need to know.
Who was Ed Gein’s alleged girlfriend Adeline Watkins and what happened to her?

Adeline Watkins was a real person who lived with her mother, a widow, in an apartment in Plainfield, Wisconsin.
Following Ed Gein’s arrest in 1957, Bernice Watkins, who was 50 at the time (and therefore older than portrayed in the show), revealed to the Minneapolis Tribune that she’d been with Gein for more than two decades. She described him as a “good, kind, and sweet” man.
Watkins’s mother also backed up her claims.
Watkins mentioned to reporters that she and Gein both enjoyed reading and frequently talked about current crime stories.
She said they spent the time talking about every murder case they could remember. Eddie went into detail about what the killer did wrong and the errors he made, which she found fascinating.
Watkins also mentioned their last meeting occurred on February 6, 1955 – over two years before Gein’s arrest. She explained that Gein had proposed to her, but she declined, saying, “It wasn’t because of anything wrong with him.”
She admitted she didn’t think she was good enough for him. She believed there was something wrong with her and worried she couldn’t meet his expectations.
When Watkins said she had been in a relationship with Ed Gein for twenty years, the story quickly became popular in the media, and many news outlets reported it.
Two weeks after the report came out, Watkins took back what she said. She told the Stevens Point Journal that the story had been exaggerated and included false information.
She clarified to the publication that they had dated for less than a year.
Gein, who passed away in 1984, never publicly acknowledged Watkins.
Where is Adeline Watkins now?
Information is scarce surrounding what happened to Watkins after Gein’s case.
However, given Watkins was born in 1907, it’s likely that she is no longer alive.
You can now watch “Monster: The Ed Gein Story” on Netflix! Netflix subscriptions start at just £5.99 per month, and it’s also available through Sky Glass and Virgin Media Stream.
