Prince Andrew will keep one royal title, thanks to his mom.
Even though King Charles III’s brother, Prince Andrew, said he would stop using the title Duke of York on October 17th, he will continue to be known as Prince Andrew. This comes after significant public concern regarding his past relationship with the convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
Royal expert Sharon Carpenter told TopMob News that he will retain his title as prince, a title bestowed upon him at birth by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Even though his titles have been removed in practice, Andrew remains a duke legally. According to royal expert Marlene Koenig, actually taking away his dukedom would need a law passed by Parliament.
He’s also expected to remain at his current home, Royal Lodge, where he’s lived for nearly 20 years with his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, and their daughters, Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35, according to Carpenter.
Carpenter added that removing his titles effectively ends any chance of the Duke ever returning to his role as a working royal.
She believes this effectively marks the end of Prince Andrew’s time as a working royal. Unless public opinion changes significantly – which is unlikely given the serious allegations against him – he won’t be returning to public life. He’s now, for all intents and purposes, a private citizen with a royal background.
Andrew has lost his titles of Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, and Baron Killyleagh. This decision comes six years after he stopped carrying out public duties due to public criticism regarding his association with Jeffrey Epstein, who died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
As a longtime follower of this case, I was really struck by the timing of this news. It came just days before Virginia Giuffre’s memoir is set to be released – a book where she once again details her claims that she was sexually abused by Prince Andrew when she was a teenager. The BBC has seen a copy, and it’s incredibly powerful. While Prince Andrew settled her lawsuit in 2022, he continues to deny any wrongdoing, but this book is bound to bring everything back into the spotlight.
As a long-time follower, I heard the news from Buckingham Palace and understand Prince Andrew has reaffirmed his decision to step away from public duties, a choice he made five years ago. He’s now going even further, with the King’s approval, and will no longer use his royal titles or honors. He also wants to reiterate, as he has before, that he completely denies the allegations made against him. It’s a difficult situation, but I respect his commitment to both the Crown and addressing these serious claims.
According to Carpenter, this decision shows the King is trying to put as much space as possible between himself and the prince, who has fallen from grace.
She believes his relationships with his family are now likely very difficult, and there’s no longer a chance he’ll return to his royal duties.
This suggests he probably won’t participate in any more official events with the royal family, even though he sometimes did in the past despite public criticism.
According to royal commentator Carpenter, it’s very unlikely we’ll see him appear publicly with any senior royals anytime soon. This means he’s expected to miss the traditional Christmas Day walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church, and likely for many Christmases to come.

Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III, has announced he will no longer use the title Duke of York. This decision comes after ongoing public concern regarding his association with the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.
After talking with The King and my family, I’ve decided that the ongoing accusations against me are taking attention away from the important work of His Majesty and the Royal Family,” Andrew said in a statement. “As I’ve always done, I’m prioritizing my family and country. Therefore, I stand by my decision from five years ago to step back from public duties.
Look, after a lot of thought and with the King’s blessing, I’ve decided to step down. That means I’m relinquishing my title and any honors I’ve received. And let me be clear, I absolutely deny all the allegations that have been made against me, just as I’ve said before. It’s time for me to move forward.

Just a day before turning 78, the royal was made an honorary Vice Admiral by the Royal Navy.

Just hours before she was scheduled to attend, Princess Catherine canceled her appearance at Royal Ascot, the annual horse race. Kensington Palace confirmed the news to NBC News.
The palace said Kate was sad to miss the event, but she’s still working out how to best manage her public appearances as she recovers from cancer.

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stopped being full-time working royals in 2021 and moved to the U.S., their security protection was reduced. However, Harry continued to ask for security arrangements whenever he returned to the U.K.

Harry explained that his father has significant influence and could potentially solve the situation. He doesn’t necessarily need to get directly involved, but rather allow the professionals to handle things and continue their work.
I can’t believe it! After *all* this time, he’s finally trying to make peace! It’s like a weight lifted just hearing that. He actually said, and I’m still getting chills, that life is too short, and he doesn’t know how much time he has left with his dad. It’s so heartbreaking and beautiful all at once. I’m just… I’m so relieved he’s doing this.
More than a year after revealing his cancer diagnosis, King Charles wrote on April 29th that going through treatment has highlighted the kindness and strength of people around him.
In a booklet offering support to cancer patients, Charles wrote that receiving a diagnosis is understandably scary for both individuals and their families. However, drawing from his own experience, he emphasized that it can also reveal incredible kindness and strength in people.
I really wanted to express my gratitude to all the incredible healthcare professionals who supported me recently. It’s given me an even stronger sense of how amazing the work is that organizations and people like those here tonight do – many of whom I’ve had the pleasure of knowing, visiting, and supporting over the years. It truly is extraordinary.
Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – were absent from the royal family’s traditional Easter service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on April 20th.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla joined the rest of the royal family in celebrations, but Prince William and Kate chose to spend the weekend at their country home in Norfolk with their children, according to several news sources.

He received a promotion almost seven years after he reported concerns about Meghan Markle’s behavior, claiming she bullied two personal assistants and tried to discredit another staff member. Buckingham Palace looked into the claims, but the investigation concluded in 2022 without any public report of its findings.
William and Kate’s eldest son George attended a soccer match in Paris alongside his dad April 7.
A father and son happily watched the UEFA Champions League Quarter Final match between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa at Parc des Princes stadium.
Graham Craker, a former bodyguard to Prince Harry and Prince William, passed away in April at the age of 77.
I remember so clearly when the news broke about Princess Diana’s tragic passing. It was a heartbreaking time for everyone, and especially for Princes William and Harry. Their beloved family dog, Craker, was right there with them, offering comfort as they processed the news and participated in the deeply moving funeral services. It really highlighted the power of animal companionship during times of immense grief.
In 2017, Craker told The New York Post that he saw Prince William during the procession. He explained that he was standing near the back of the hearse when Prince William looked up and made eye contact. Craker nodded back, and Prince William seemed reassured to know that Craker was with his mother during her final journey.

According to NBC News, the settlement involved the company paying a significant amount in damages and offering a complete and sincere apology to Prince Harry. They also publicly admitted to the widespread and harmful coverage that invaded both his privacy and the privacy of his mother, Princess Diana.

Meghan Markle, known for her role in the TV show *Suits*, started her own Instagram account on January 1st. She had previously closed her personal social media accounts just before marrying Prince Harry in 2018.

It sounds like she’ll be sharing practical tips and having honest chats with both familiar faces and new friends. I can’t wait to see it!
