What is the best James Bond film? Vote now in our Radio Times poll

After “No Time To Die” came out, it was unclear what would happen with the James Bond movies. There was a lot of talk about a new film and a fresh direction for the series, but no official plans were announced.

With Amazon MGM Studios now leading the creative side of things, progress on the next installment is happening quickly. Reports last week indicated that filming for the 26th movie in the series is expected to start before the end of the year.

Although the main actor hasn’t been announced yet, the film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with a script from Steven Knight (the creator of Peaky Blinders), and produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman.

With all the ongoing speculation about the next actor to play the role, and a new announcement seeming likely soon, we decided it’s a good moment to finally answer the big question: what’s the best movie in this beloved series?

So far, 25 movies have been made as part of the main James Bond series, based on Ian Fleming’s books. We’ll be focusing on those 25 films, and won’t include the 1967 and 1983 movies, Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again.

What’s the greatest James Bond movie? Some fans love the classics like Goldfinger, which first showed us memorable villains such as Oddjob. Others prefer Roger Moore’s The Man with the Golden Gun, featuring a fantastic performance by Christopher Lee. And of course, more recent films like Casino Royale and Skyfall are also popular choices.

We asked people last year to vote for their favorite James Bond theme song. The winner was “Live and Let Die,” written by Paul and Linda McCartney and performed by their band, Wings, for the 1973 film of the same title.

It triumphed over Carly Simon’s “Nobody Does It Better” in the final round. Other songs that reached the semi-finals were Shirley Bassey’s “Diamonds Are Forever,” Nancy Sinatra’s “You Only Live Twice,” Adele’s “Skyfall,” and Duran Duran’s “A View to a Kill.”

While a new James Bond movie isn’t coming out right away, fans can still enjoy his adventures through a series of audio dramas called Young Bond, produced by Big Finish Productions.

A new series of audio dramas about James Bond’s teenage years will debut in September 2026. The first story will be based on ‘SilverFin,’ the first book in the Young Bond series.

James Bond 26 will be released in cinemas.
