Ghost of Yotei is launching soon, so it’s time to get ready! 2024 wasn’t a standout year for PlayStation in terms of big, exclusive games. Astro Bot helped, even winning Game of the Year, but titles like Concord didn’t perform well. Now, PlayStation is making a strong comeback with two highly-rated games this generation: Death Stranding 2 and the anticipated Ghost of Yotei. This represents a return to the immersive, single-player experiences that PlayStation fans expect, created by some of the most talented developers in the industry.
Ghost of Yotei is the anticipated sequel to Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima. The original 2020 game was a fantastic send-off for the PS4 console, arriving shortly before The Last of Us Part 2. It kept players engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic and launched a new, important franchise for PlayStation.
After five years, Sucker Punch is back with a follow-up that’s not quite a traditional sequel. While it draws inspiration from the themes of the previous game and uses gameplay similar to Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei offers a fresh experience. It’s set hundreds of years after Tsushima, in a different location, and features entirely new characters and storylines.
What Time Will Ghost of Yotei Release on PS5?
When does Ghost of Yotei come out? Very soon! Ghost of Yotei is launching tonight. For players on the east coast, the digital release will be at midnight on October 2nd. The game will be available nationwide at the same time, meaning those in the central timezone can start playing at 11 PM on October 1st, and players on the west coast can begin at 9 PM local time.
Traditionally, video games came out on Tuesdays or Fridays. However, PlayStation has recently started releasing games on Thursdays, potentially causing you to lose sleep during the work week instead of at its end.
If you want to start playing right away, you can pre-load Ghost of Yotei on PlayStation 5 now. This means the entire game will be downloaded to your console before it’s released, so you can begin playing the moment it’s available. Just keep in mind the game will stay locked until its official release date – you won’t be able to play it early!
