Battlefield 6 offers a wide variety of weapons, and the Assault Rifle is a great choice, especially if you’re playing as the Assault class – it’s a natural fit!
These are well-rounded and effective at close and medium distances. They also have plenty of customization options and a good magazine capacity, making them versatile for many situations.
Battlefield 6 is still new, but here’s a look at some of the best assault rifles you can use right now, including one that’s available to players right from the start.
The best early-game assault rifle in Battlefield 6
Don’t worry about spending ages unlocking powerful weapons in Battlefield 6 – it won’t take that long.
You can get the M4A1 Carbine when you reach level 2. It fires quickly – 900 rounds per minute – and is fairly easy to control if you shoot in short bursts.
This weapon is a great starting point for new Battlefield players, and you can reliably use it effectively at medium distances. We recommend avoiding direct confrontations with snipers, though.
And yes, technically it’s a carbine, but it performs essentially as an assault rifle would.
The best overall assault rifle in Battlefield 6
Currently, the NVO-228E is considered the strongest assault rifle in Battlefield 6, but this could shift if the game receives updates to balance weapon performance.
Right now, this weapon delivers a lot of damage quickly, has manageable recoil, and a 30-round magazine. That makes it good for both laying down suppressing fire and landing accurate shots at medium distances.
To unlock this, you’ll need to complete the Rapid Fire 2 challenge. This means getting 300 kills using either the Kord 6P67 or B36A4 weapons, and also getting 100 kills with assault rifles from a distance of over 50 meters while aiming down the sights. It takes some work, but it’s definitely worth it!
