When is CoD MW4 beta? Start date speculation and what to expect

The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is almost here, and you’ll get a chance to play it early with an open beta! This will let you try out the multiplayer before the official launch and see what the game has to offer. So, what can players expect from the beta?

We don’t have many specifics yet, but we can guess when the beta might come out and what features it will have by looking at what was included in past games.

Here is a rundown on everything we know about the CoD MW4 beta so far:

CoD MW4 beta start date speculation

The beta test for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is expected to happen in either September or early October. This timeframe is typical for betas in the Call of Duty series, and we don’t anticipate this one being different. Last year’s beta, for instance, launched at the beginning of October.

Players will be able to try out the beta on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. We don’t have confirmation yet about a release on the Nintendo Switch 2.

We might see a beta version of this game sooner, but since Infinity Ward hasn’t shared any information, we anticipate hearing updates around late summer. It’s also likely that they’ll host another CoD Next event, though that hasn’t been officially announced.

CoD MW4 beta: what to expect?

While details aren’t final, the upcoming beta will probably feature a limited set of content – around six weapons, six maps, and six game modes. Players will likely be able to reach level 15 or 20 through multiplayer gameplay, mirroring the progression systems in many recent games.

As a huge fan, I’m so excited to hear we’re getting two weekends to try out the beta! They’re planning on adding new ways to level up, more maps to play on, and even new game modes over those two weeks. It sounds like if you want in on the very first weekend, you’ll probably need to pre-order the game – like the Vault Edition, for example.

In addition to multiplayer, the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature a campaign set in Korea. You can find a full preview of the game, including details about this campaign, in our recent article. We also covered the third game mode, DMZ, which was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase.
