A significant question about the upcoming Wednesday Season 2 has finally been answered. After much anticipation, recent developments reveal that Lady Gaga will indeed be part of the series, increasing its star power for the second season and broadening the scope of the Nevermore universe.
Netflix solves the Lady Gaga mystery for Wednesday Season 2
Netflix announced at Tudum 2025: The Live Event that Lady Gaga would be appearing as a guest in Season 2 of Wednesday. During her finale performance, she sang a medley of “Zombieboy,” “Bloody Mary,” and “Abracadabra.” Her role will be featured in the second part of the season, set to premiere on September 3.
In a new role, pop sensation Lady Gaga portrays Rosaline Rotwood, a once-teacher at the enigmatic Nevermore school who carries an air of legend around her. This character encounters Wednesday in a pivotal storyline, but the specifics of her involvement and her place within the central mystery are yet to be revealed.
In Season 2, the Addams family becomes more entrenched within the dark, gothic world of Nevermore. Characters like Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley assume more significant positions, with a heightened focus on the complex relationship between Morticia and Wednesday, which includes both emotional and physical altercations. As for Tim Burton, he commented, “This season, we’re transporting the family to Nevermore. Isn’t it just awful when your school family is the very worst?
On Wednesday, Pugsley – his younger sibling portrayed by Isaac Ordonez – enrolls in the same school and grapples with mastering his electrokinesis. Additionally, Joanna Lumley is introduced as Hester Frump, Wednesday’s grandmother, a role she appears to find endearing, even managing a smile during their meeting.
In Season 2, the ensemble grows by adding Steve Buscemi to his role as the new headmaster of Nevermore, named Barry Dort. Additionally, Billie Piper, Thandiwe Newton, and Christopher Lloyd join the series. Meanwhile, some familiar faces make a comeback: Jenna Ortega reprises her character Wednesday, Emma Myers continues as Enid, and Catherine Zeta-Jones returns as Morticia.
The filming location for the current season was Ireland, where it was divided into two segments. The initial installment, made up of four episodes, is currently available for streaming. The second part, highlighted by Lady Gaga’s appearance, will make its debut on September 3. The creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, penned the premiere episode titled “Here We Woe Again,” while Tim Burton took charge of directing it.
