
Netflix is adding a new documentary to its collection of true crime content, focusing on the life and crimes of Aileen Wuornos.
From 1989 to 1990, Wuornos robbed, shot and killed several men across Florida.
After more than a decade on death row, she was executed in 2002 for the crimes she committed, which had initially resulted in six death sentences.
The documentary, Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers, takes a fresh look at the life and crimes of Aileen Wuornos. It includes interviews with people who knew her, as well as recordings of interviews conducted while she was in prison.
A significant person in Aileen Wuornos’s life was Tyria Moore. Moore gained recognition through depictions in popular culture, most famously as a character—played by Christina Ricci—in the 2003 film Monster.

Aileen Wuornos, age 30, first encountered 24-year-old Tyria Moore at a bar named Zodiac in Daytona Beach.
The pair then moved into together, with Wuornos providing for them while working as a prostitute.
During her trial, Aileen described her feelings for Moore as an overwhelming love, saying, “Words can’t express how I felt about Tyria.”

In 1991, Wuornos was arrested in Volusia County, and the following day, police found Moore.
Moore then called Wuornos, under police guidance, allegedly asking for help to clear her name.
After several days, Wuornos admitted to the killings, stating the men had tried to sexually assault her and she acted in self-defense.
