Mila Kunis is definitely a well-known movie star, having gained popularity in the late 90s and continuing through the 2000s and 2010s with roles in shows like That ‘70s Show and films like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Black Swan. However, she’s appeared in fewer movies recently. Her last film was the 2024 comedy Goodrich, starring Michael Keaton. This isn’t because she’s stopped working, but because she and her husband, Ashton Kutcher (who she starred with on That ‘70s Show), have established some ground rules for their careers as parents in Hollywood.
Being a parent is challenging, and it’s even harder when you’re an actor with demanding schedules and long filming locations far from home. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, a famous Hollywood couple, have one key principle that guides their parenting. Kunis recently shared with Extra TV that this principle is actually the reason she hasn’t been in many movies or TV shows lately.
My husband, Ashton, and I coordinate our work schedules so we’re never away from the kids at the same time. We both avoid working when the children are traveling for school. My next project is filming in Los Angeles in January, so I’ll take that one. Then, the project after that will be filmed outdoors in another country during the summer. We essentially take turns working, but we always make sure one of us is with the kids.
This celebrity couple may not always get parenting perfect, but they seem to be handling this situation well. Many actors, including Reese Witherspoon, have talked about how difficult it is to raise children while working. That’s actually a big reason why some celebrities are choosing to move away from Los Angeles. If these two—known for roles in shows like Punk’d and Bad Moms—are part of that group staying in L.A., it makes sense they’d want to set clear limits to create a stable home life.
Mila Kunis shared that she deliberately limits herself to one film per year so she can spend more time with her children, 11-year-old Wyatt and 8-year-old Dimitri. This made me think the parents on That ‘90s Show must be doing well financially to be able to manage with just one movie a year. Kunis was quick to point out that this isn’t possible for every actor and that she appreciates being able to do it.
I’m so happy to see Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher still thriving! It feels like forever ago they were just co-stars and then, well, more than friends! Honestly, with how many celebrity marriages fall apart in Hollywood, I was a little skeptical. But seeing them go strong for 10 years now – and clearly building a great life and family – is really heartwarming. It just goes to show you never know what might work out, and I’m rooting for them!
They’ve consistently navigated their public life with grace, and this professional collaboration is another example of their strong communication and mutual respect. I especially remember how they addressed separation rumors in 2019 – they posted a funny video together poking fun at the tabloid stories, which was a clever way to handle things.
